Isn't this just a fluid top-up problem???

Same stuff you use for the power steering. Somebody mentioned DEXRON in another post I think.

Dexron 3 ATF (auto trans Fluid) not Pwer Steering fluid ! Mobile 1 make a good one.

If it is after motorway driving it sounds more likely your a spline or two out on your steering ! low fluid is normal fist thing in the morning (or when cold) as the fluid expands with Temprature.

So that's why you never answered my post Nico about helping you put your car back together.... biggrin.gif

You were worried that I'd f**k up your HICAS by accidentally putting Power Steering fluid in instead of ATF - Dexron blahdy blah eh?

Won't offer again then!

P.S. I hope that when you go to put it all back together they haven't given you enough wood glue and you're one screw short...LMAO!

man i put brake fluid in mine the other day lol

now what?

Hmmm, I think that I'd take this as an opportunity to flush the whole system out and put fresh in before the brake fluid mixes up with the stuff already there.

As previously said, Hicas light can come on when cold and then go out - mine does, guess it is just shortish of fluidium.

Now then, my previous Zed did the old Hicas light on after 20 mins of motorway driving, best explanation I can offer is your steering wheel being slightly off-center - mine was a spline out and when driving in a straight line the steering wheel was to the right slightly.

I was told that HICAS calibrates itself from some sensor on the wheel (or spline) and if you are driving around town (and concequently turning the wheel lots) the HICAS doesn't notice a problem, if however you are cruising pretty much in a straight line (as you would on a M/Way) then the HICAS, because your wheel is slightly off center, thinks you are in effect steering to the right or left continually. It sees this a fault somehow and the light goes on and the HICAS goes off.

This is probably a load a crap, but it seemed to make some sense to me at the time.
