Now I have got my 300zx working I will be starting to smarten it up.

First thing needed are new front and rear bumpers, although there are so many to choose from i'm not sure which to go for.

Once the body is sorted out I would like the car to have a respray. Does anyone know how much this will cost and where I could get this done?

Thanks.

If you look under the links section, there is a place called PPS who do sprays and body kits.

You are best phoning them and talking..

Stuart

The cost is relative to the place you use and its up to you to decide whether thats reflected in the job or you're just getting good value for money! (yeah, I know, how are you supposed to tell!) I would ask about and get as much info as poss.

Luke @ Z Centre also has his own bodyshop, well one he uses to fit and spray any kits he sells.

Luke seems to know his stuff,I will be using him soon.

Colin,

dont know about respray but have a look at my z for ideas about bumpers, the front and rear looks spot on when you see it for real, not OTT !

The front nose is very low tho, scrapes stoopid road humps sometimes.

Should be doin better pics soon :)

Hi Colin

I paid £2,700 for my respray. It was a full colour change and SE did everything apart from the engine bay as this would have required the engine out.

It's now Bayside Blue and looks great (there's some pics on the Brighton and Bolney meeting threads).

I did think about purple (Gran Turismo 3) or a couple of other funky colours but then they can go out of fashion after a while or a a pain to repair if you have a knock.

Whatever you choose - good luck.

Mark

The place to go has to be PPS.

People travel all over the place to go there so it must be good.

I am saving my pennies up ready for a visit next year (hopefully).

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

so what colour is your engine bay?

man whats the point of a full colour respray for nigh on 3 grand only to leave the bits that require a full colour respray?

lol

Ahh the insight into Peter rosenburgs thought patern lol

PPS seem like the ones

to go for, (will have to wait and see if they finish car on time :D) but there setup is pretty cool and his work looks very good from what ive seen.

Colin - Where in the UK do you live?

I use a small body shop close to me (Gatwick area) that charges about £100 per panel and he does a decent job. If you want your car resprayed the same colour as it is already this will considerably reduce the costs.

My guess is that small bodyshops should be able to do it for well under £1000. Getting a good one may be a problem though - being referred to one by a friend or aquaintance is a good start.

Look closely at whatever they are working on in the shop. A bad job can be very annoying - not to mention being a waste of many of your hard-earned Earth £'s.

The engine bay is the original charcoal grey. But I don't stop at traffic lights and lift the hood very often so that's not a problem.

The paint was £1000 and the body needed a good bit of tidying up. It had had a frontal impact that the dealer I bought it off had hidden very well.

On balance it was expensive but I like it. I've not seen another like it. Are there any others in that colour ?

Any contact details available?

Anyone in the south east and needing some paint work, I have used a sprayers near Sidcup 3 times now and each time have been more than impressed with their work. 2 jobs on the Z and one on my last car, BMW. Last time I dropped my Z off there, there was a 1 week old 911 turbo that someone had reversed into and a Bentley.

This seems like one of those rare places that you get good service for a good price! I remember him giving me an excellent price for paint & fitting 99 spec front bumper.

I don't know anyone who works there......what I mean is I'm not trying to get a mate/relation any business, just thought I'd tell you about them because from my experience they are very good.

They are D&G CRASH REPAIRS 020 8859 5354 and the main man there is called Dominic........if anyone does ring, they won't remember my name but say you've got their number from the guy with the silver 300zx - he'll remember that. He loves cash aswelll, if you know what I mean 'Arry.

;)

I'd echo that recommendation, based on a guy who works for me, who's had 5 cars done there - tip-top job each time! (I know, but him and his missus do tend to attract other objects ;))

Anyhow, I'm going to go see him next week I hope - so I'll report back on the experience too ...

Handy thing is that it's all of 200 yards away from the office ;)

CheerZ,

JB. :)

Each for his own, but i personally wouldent do half a job.

And for that type of money id certainly expect it all done properly.

(not trying to invoke an argument lol)

and having said that it looked the dogs bollocks at Brighton, very very ncie colour :D

Colin, I used a guy recommended by a mate- over here in Herts. not far from you. He recently fitted my new rear spoiler and sprayed it to match the car. V. good job.

Name is John Drury in Codicote, Hertfordshire.

Geoff.

BIGROY: your query: Any contact details available?

The name of the cheap and decent bodyshop is Scratchmaster. The main man is Stuart and he is at 1B Stephenson Place, Three Bridges, Crawley, West Sussex. Tel: 01293 456999 or 07951 745316 or 07931 487866 (one of the mobile numbers is an old one I think - can't remember which)

He's a decent spud.
