Just phoned Firebond Insurance today to claim my £400 quote like many of you lot did, they say the company who did the modern classic policy with limited miles wont do it anymore because of the claims and they now quoted me nearly £1000, so if your with them expect a shock when the renewal comes through. My renewal with Aidrian Flux is £790 for my import, I still think this is an insult when you have 7 years no claims, a licence for 14 years and a £500 excess.

That is uncanny, me and AndyP were chatting about this very same subject yesterday over an ale!

Andy told me that basically the brokers buy a fat bunch of policies from the underwriters at a discount. But when they're released all the said policies and there are none left, then the next one they quote will be a "rocket in the arse!" shock!!!

Criminal really, don't know how they get away with it! Insurance needs regulating more thoroughly in my opinion.

Try Brian on 0800 0929561 - this guy knows his stuff, works for Norwich Union Direct and has just insured my ZedTT *IMPORT* with mods declared for 413 of your finest UK Pounds.

Cant fault him,

Glen ..

You mean the batmobile, with all those mods ???? You sure that's not just the first months installment ?

Kerching! Excellent matey, that's well cheap.

Ah, but did you declare the box that messes with the air/fuel mixture! Bet it would have been about 300 more if you'd told them about that biggrin.gif

Well to insure on the Isle of Wight is a big bonus as there is virtually no car crime, the exhaust and styling doesn't seem to add alot and 5years ncd helped, but it surprised the hell out of me!!!

Aplan gave me a quote of about £750 and I thought that reasonable but this guy Brian was spot on.

I just cannot fault a premium of £413.

Plus I got a big discount for being a costumed crime fighter ( i didn't declare the flame thrower and grappling hook tho smile.gif )

and the air-fuel gizmo is disconneted I think, I dunno what half the bloody bits and bobs on this car do anyway smile.gif - damn alarm instigates anti car-jacking measures 30 seconds after you get in and if you forget to lock it, it does it for you then promptly goes off coz I left the roofs off / and-or kiddie winkles in the car.

And the lights are crap.

Glen.

Bugger, I was going switch to firebond at the end of the month.

This Brian bloke sounds good, but when he starts getting a heap of calls from members & watchers, will he be obliged to do the same!

What we need is a compitent independent broker who is willing to offer ins' to forum members, at a reasonable price.

This will be different for each member of course, but all of us with one broker/company might have the power benefit us all.

We all know people in this area. So make your enquiries - 1st one back with a result, post all details as we all add our findings, in a month or so we might have a top deal.

There must be 40 ish people here, thats a lot of renewals. For one place to suddenly get.

Just an idea.

harve.
