I've been told by several people that the Techtom MDM100 was not beeing made anymore...which appears to be bull sh#t !

You can still buy them straight from the source ! (and for a reasonable price also)

http://www.techtom.co.jp/index3.html

(use an online translator like babelfish)

Send those guys an email and the MDM100N (nissan-version) + shipping costs around 260GBP

They have a lot of other nice gadgets as well...like the Techtom DL100 (which is an interface + software which allows you to show everything the MDM100 shows + more...on eg. a laptop in realtime !)

or the Techtom HDM2000, which is basically the same as the Nissan Consult.

That babelfish thing is 'kin amazing. Interesting to see that it is reasonably straightforward to translate words, but the grammar is wierd - probably tells you alot about the English langauge.

Anyroadup, I recently bought a Techtom direct from the EatRice in the US and it cost me about £300.

...further to Eric's posty...

Contact Phuong at GR Racing in the U.S. and get a price from him. Me and AndyP have both bought stuff from him and he's very reasonable chappy.

i can gety a product from South africa that does sooooo much more than the techtom devise.

it can measure

1: boost

2: air/fuel ratio

3: exhaust gas temparature

4: oil pressure

5: air voltage ect ect

i am just waiting for a price ont his unit.

it is laptop compatible and has a recording function as well.

...and it's called........what???

its being made up right now, i have the license.

ill let you guys know in about a week or so. and it is well priced.

(still waiting to see how much the moulding costs)

but this really is a great product.

it can evne show shaft pressure on the turbo if you want, and also show pressue before the intercooler and after for instance.

ideal to have fitted if your engine is out the car aswell!!!

So I presume this secret device is not a plug-in to the ECU then. Sounds like more sensors and more wiring to me. Sounds interesting though ...

nothing secret, im just trying to come up with a name and get the thing working properly, all the sensors work and it is very accurate,

yes you have to put the sensors in, it also has a detonation warning screen.

it comes with wiring diagram and all the goodies. even self tapping screws.

ill let you guys know soon.

everything works, just having the moulding doen so it looks representable

Sounds nice, but the advantage of the Techtom-stuff is that you can just hook it up to the consult-plug under the dashboard and you're all set.

No extra sensors or wiring have to be installed...

-Eric

Yeah, but Warren's providing self tapping screws wink.gif

Brown tape and hairy string will be optional extras ...... biggrin.gif

yup but problem with techtom is its using standard sensors so not that accurate and it only has about half the sensors thatmine will have,

i like the techtom but it cant compete with this really.

  • Author

I'll believe it when I see it wink.gif

if it means you have to get the engine out first to get the sensors in properly...it's not really an option, is it ?

ooooooh tOUCHY ARE WE LOL.

nah seriously, everything is working and it just the casing i am waiting for, i will try have them for sale by about september at least.

but like you guys said the only problem is haveing to put the sensors in.

  • Author

nah...just a bit suspicious biggrin.gif

I've seen these kind of magic sensor-boxes before...with big wiring looms all over the engine and stuff..

End of story was that most sensors died within two months, because they were made of inferior materials or just couldn't handle the heat under the bonnet..so the whole device became pretty useless...

Come on Warren, put you Krugerands where your jaws meet!!!! I've just blown a small fortune on my Techtom, convince us that Techtom is inferior and I'll be your first customer...GULP!

If Capt. South Africa's gadget is as good as he says it is...yep! Don't see why not Eric.

Something tells me though, that by the time Warren has finished wiring a 300ZX up with his new machine it'll resemble the DeLorean in Back to the Future. I don't like the idea of my car having a Moulinex food blender sticking out of the back window! biggrin.gif

But your engine is out and ready for Warren style surgery. Make your mind up fast before it gets put back together ! (well not that fast) smile.gif

Nah, I'll pass then!!! I need to know that my car is working as it should when it goes back together...can't be blaming Warren for any mishaps.
