If you want to go down that route, try Jaylox's kits or have a go at spraying them yourself in the right colour!

Jaylox don't do ally kits;)

Jaylox will do gold plated kits if you asked him nicely :D :D

I have a Jaylox carbon fiber interior kit in my car. It's alot thicker than the Z center one, but I have decided that I want to makethe interior quite bright so I'm going to go with an bushed Ali kit.

Which means my Carbon fiber kit will be up for sale soon.

I'll be putting it in the for sale section later along with lots of other bits, but if anyone is interested in the mean time, give me a shout.

I sprayed mine myself. It takes a bit of time to get it right, but looks a shit load better than any stick on kit, and costs a fraction of the price.

I'm doing the same to my mundano v6 at the mo.

probably a stuipid question Stu,what bits did you spray up and is a standard primer plus something like platicote for a top coat? what did you use,and have you a piccy of the result?

cheers.

Bob.

I just did the bit with the stereo/central air deflectors bit.

I tried loads of spray paints until I got one I liked.

In the end, I went for a tamiya aluminum finish.

Most enamel based spray paints will go on without even a primer, but saying that I am using a plastic primer on the mondano.. it does allow for a smoother finish.

I like the slightly unusual rough finish I got on the 300 so left it at that, but with the mundano I will be laquering it for a bit of a more shiny finish.

The good thing is, it only take a few mins to clean off the paint with thinner and try again until you get it the way you want it.

I'll post a picture of the 300 dash tonight if I remember.

Cor, it's like Blue Peter on here "Take some double sided sticky tape..." etc.

Halfords do some lovely seat back supports with the beads, very comfy.

chemists also sell suppositorys,try some.:p

Now now, stay on topic. At least my ref to Blue Peter wasn't that far removed from making your interior all sparkly now was it? But shoving things up your back alley in no way refers to what the thread is about. ;)

Some very interesting DIY posts on here, but how about a few pictures guys?

particularly you Stuart

Hi Powerlord,

i for one am really intertesed - can you get the plastic to look like an aluminium finish - if so that would be way better than any stick on kit.

please give me an email - if you have pictues that would be great.

regards,

alex

I've stuck it on my webserver as I can't post attachments:

not a great picture, but hey ho.

actually thought you'd need a video to see the reflections, so here is one (starts in day, then night)..

yeh, you should be able to get an aluminum finish if you want.

I wanted something a bit more unusual.. it's a kinda of bluey silver effect.

So it's just paint straight onto the plastic, 2 or 3 coats.

That was 3 years ago, and it's still fine.

As I say, the mondeo is getting more of a silvery/aluminum look and will be getting laquered as well, so that will look a bit different.

I also noticed somewhere on the site that there are wood finishes available that don't appear to be 'stuck on' - does anyone know where there's a definitive list of all the available options?

These kits will not fit the UK/Jap spec cars , I have a company in the US who are making a 17 piece kit for me at the moment and will be available shortly in wood , carbon fibre, alu etc , the quality is better than anything I have seen in the UK and the cost should only be £120-£140 delivered

Ah ha, so it's you. I was interested in getting these myself. I'll PM you the name of the company I contacted and you can tell me if it's the same company. :D

WHy keep it secret on PMs - we all want to hear about it and see some pickies too!

Yeah, spill the beans, cos I'd like an ally interior!!!

In fact, why don't we see if we can do a group buy and try and get them a bit cheaper?? :)

Some people play the part of the customer, some play the part of the dealer :D.

I like to dabble in both :D ;)

Ask Jaylox where he gets his Carbon Fiber.

Ask Smithy where he gets his SS.

Ask Luke where he gets his interior kits.

You know why they won't tell ?.....

Because it's a secret ;)

i thought id spill the beans!!

i get my carbon from ???

I acquired this article yesterday:

_

Required Materials:

Automotive Sandable Primer

Dupli-Color Enamel Paint

Dupli-Color Automotive Clearcoat

Hair dryer

_

Note: Dupli-Color is recommended but is not necessary, if you have a brand you prefer use that but please make sure it is a top quality brand.

_

1. Remove and mask off one test piece

Remove one small little piece as a demonstration. Pop off the ashtray on the back-end of the center console or use a piece you might have in your garage. Mask off any part that you do not want paint to hit.

2. Sand it down

use 300 grit sandpaper. Sand it all completely and evenly. Make sure you get all the edges. Then move to a smoother sandpaper, use 600. This will smooth everything our and make it ready to paint.

3. Wash it off

Wash off all the dust from sanding it, dry and let sit for a few minutes.

4. Spray first coat of primer

evenly spray your first coat of primer. Make sure you get every spot, but MAKE SURE YOU GET IT EVENLY. Spray left to right in smooth strokes, not up and down. Begin spraying before you're even aiming at it, then as you spray move to the right over the object to ensure a smooth coats and no drip marks.

5. Let it dry

Let the first coat completely dry. Use your hairdryer at a low setting and evenly blow it all over the object. After a couple of minutes set the hairdryer to a higher setting. Blow the hairdryer on the object for about 5 minutes to ensure dryness. Make sure the hairdryer is about 6 inches of the part if not you might make marks in your paint.

6. Spray second coat of primer

Repeat step 4.

7. Let it dry

Repeat step 5.

8. Spray first coat of your chosen color

after it is completely dry, spray on the color by following the same steps as when you sprayed the primer. Repeat spraying and drying until you have three coats of the color on your part.

9. Add clearcoat

Clearcoat will protect your new interior's paintjob. Without clearcoat the paint will scratch off very easily. Follow the same steps when spraying on clearcoat as you did when you sprayed on the primer and the final color. Spray two coats of clearcoat on each piece.

10. Re-install

it’s now time to re-install the piece that you painted.
