Well, thats why I suggested the FAQ section but it went quiet... I really don't mind doing some stuff for this BUT I am NOT doing it all by myself...

CheerZ,

Andy

Its hard to say. I have searched on TT.net only to find over 1000 results and after the first 3 pages of having nothing to do with what I want, I get fed up and have to post. But I do say in the post that the search didnt really help.

Its also hard for people to come on here say with the PTU problem not knowing what the cause is and try to search for it.

What do they search for? Cutting out? Stalling?

I just searched cutting out, and on the first page was PTU, spark plugs, starter motor, MAS problems and battry to just name a few results.

Stuart

I supose if they are new you have to give them the benefit of the doubt !!

Also a lot of threads are started and then soon branch off into other things, which can be quite amusing!

There again some threads are started and by the lack of replies then they should get the hint by then!;) :D :D

Cheers,

F.T.

yep do a search you lazy basts!!

SXOC has jsut had a huge influx of people, all wanting to know stuff that I asked 2 years ago, we now have sticky's telling people to use the search button, and there has developed a 'Search Police' pact.

They get discussed here. :D:D:D

I find it a little tiresome but you have to give new people the benefit of the doubt, otherwise they won't come back. Anyway, SRRAE posts on every item anyway, so most of us don't need to do anything ! ;) LOL

LMAO,I had noticed that too;)

it's a little anoying, but I think I was just as bad when I joined... :)

Search is really quite good though, manged to find most stuff out about my vibrations (propshaft), then got MJP to do a proper inspection - UJ needs doing :(

I will put my hand up and say, as a new zed owner, that I have posted quite a few questions.

In my, and others defence, the search does not always answer the questions, either due to my lack of knowledge on what to search on, or in some cases, the previous threads turning into a slanging match of differing opinions.

As someone who is going through the process from buying a car to making sure it is ok, to doing a 60k service and making a few mods, I would be fully supportive of a FAQ section and quite happy to add what knowledge I have and the sh*tloads I am gaining along the way to it.

Apart from the faq idea which I think is good, just advise new guys when an old question is repeated that they will find tons of info if they do a search.

Geoff.

I for one dont mind it because;

1. When i first came on here i asked stupid questions and got very helpful answers, made me stick with 300's after the first went tits up.

2. I can answer some of the simpler questions, thus feeling that i can give a bit back, for the help ive recieved.

3. It all helps the post count!!! (Cant all afford the bribes like you Macca!!)

The search can also be a bit anoying as it'll only let you search words with 3 letters or more. If you typed in 'PTU' for example it wouldn't work

The search can also come back with utterly irrelevant matches, too.

I think a FAQ on the basic questions that usually get asked is a good idea. Something along the lines of :

1) Can I buy Neons for a Zed

NO!!! Sell the car and go and get yourself a NOVA!

2) Can I NOS the Zed?

Yes, but you're an eejit.

3) Where does the oil go?

All over the floor usually, although pouring it into your petrol tank adds 32bHp.

:D :D

Well at least its now 3 letters, used to be 4 or 5 I think, but I brought it down to 3 because of the vast number of TLA associated with Zeds !

It is very annoying!

In forum suggestions, I proposed an alphabetical list of subjects, so people could reference them about OEM spares and upgrades!

I notice they have started something similiar on TTnet and called it 'everything about series', they must have read my post LOL!

Well this is why I originally started my site, just to bring some order to all the information out there. Although, I have written very little content myself and no FAQ's as such. (Why duplicate what other people have done so well?)

Me being a new member (ish), I am probably guilty of posting silly qestion but :

I have got to know you lot a lot better through these qestions and vicer versa. So i use the forum more. (meeting up with 2 members tonight i think)

I dont think you would have many people posting if everything was in a FAQ as you would not have much to say

I dont mind helping people if i can. even if it has been asked again

Yeah Mac........stop being a miserable git :D :D :D

As Duffer said the faq section kinda ran out of steam?

I think the vote saying the forum has gone down the pan isn't linked to the issue of the same question being asked over and over again, tbh.

I haven't been on here long, since Oct 2002, but already am defensive of the place. There are some great characters on here and I would never slag the place off.

Sh1t, I don't mind telling people where their TPS is, what oil I think is best.........usually they are the only 2 questions I can answer!

Maybe a swift reminder if the poster keeps on asking silly questions as to where the 'search' facilty is! I'd give them ONE chance though!:)

I agree with James.

I think its unfair to say that the place has gone down the pan because a few people ask questions who truthfully dont know that their problem is a common one.

Also if you look at the old fourm there where never that many replies to posts. 30 if you are lucky. I remember Ajay's Traction Control Group Buy being one of the first I know to go over 100 replies. Infact I think it went to about 120 and the last 20 posts where comments on how big it had got. I remember when it was broken with the buy on wheel hubs I think, and people mosted messages on there just to beat the TC buy thread. LOL :D

Now 100 posts isn't that uncommon. If anything its got better because more people reply, but you may say its lost the personal touch with having more people on and more people who just come on every now and then.

For God's sake the post about cats has reached over 80 replies. LOL :D

I could not disagree more lol.

I have been with this place since its inception (well nearly lol call me a lier for a week) and its taken a massive downhill slide.

The moderation is KAK, there really is very little in the way of decent club like integration ect..

:D personally i think its a crap forum yet i keep on at it lol (not sure why)
