hi can some one tell me how to adjust the idle speed on my jap

tt auto at the monent in neautral it is at about 1300rpm and when in gear it goes down to 1000rpm plus also when i get above about 70mph there is a fait bleeping noise coming from somewhere in the front dash it sounds like a door bell going bing bing bing

I take it your Z is a Japanese one.

 

The beeping noise is a speed warning which tells you are 70mph. Its not on the UK cars. You can disconnect it some how.

Heres a pic of the TPS, by loosening the two srews and rotating it you can ajust the tickover.

Don't touch the TPS ... it's not for adjusting idle !!

 

Always use the idle adjustment screw on the back of the engine as described in the link that Andy posted.

hi andy thanks for your advice have you got a photo of the engine bay showing where this part is to disconnect when i lift the bonnet there are so many tubes i dont know what i am looking at

Although Eric says not to touch the TPS.

You may still want to check it.

I know the guy before me must have adjusted the idle the TPS as it was at .58v when it should be at 0.4 at idle and 4.0 at full throttle.
