1) dont wait during a sunny day and think you will service the car tommorow.

2) if somebody tells you its a lot easier to take a zed to a garage than service it yourself, believe them, they know what they are talking about

3) if you find a site on the web that tells you it is a step by step guide to doing a service, dont believe them, it will only end in tears

5) The one tool you dont own, be it ever so humble, will be the one youwill need on a wet sunday afternoon when halfords is shut (6mm long reach allen key)

6) dont use your 12v electric drill with a nut runner attached to undo pully bolts, the smell of a burnt out motor is a terrible thing.

7) Do not wear your best boots

8) No matter how long you stare, or how much you look, the aforementioned tool will not appear in your tool locker, nor will halfords ring up to say that they are opening just for you.

Trust me on the boots:(

Oh dear, not a very successful day then?

Taking it to a garage is the last option man, no-one will look after your Z like you will. So you didn't have the allen key..........but apart from that, think of the satisfaction of doing it yourself......and next time will be a doddle.

A little saying I like alot and can apply to so many things-

"Nothing truly worthwhile comes without sacrifice".

If you're having another go and fancy a hand, I'm not far from you and could pop over for another pair of hands.

Yup, once more into the breach:rolleyes:

The good thing is I will be able to re-write the instructions from the point of view of a 90 spec jap

Thanks james, unless you have tomorrow off you're (hopefully) going to miss the fun. Saving grace is I have a new contract on Wednesday, so got to ginish it by then :)

May I add number 4) which you seem to have missed...

4) WD40 is NOT the answer to loosening tight bolts, it merely quickens the rounding off period.

You forgot to put,

Always take pictures at various stages of dis repair, thus increasing the repair time dramatically!!!

also forgot:

9) take a rasp and shave all your knuckles, it wont help but it will save time later

10) Buy cheap socket sets, that way you wont have to take out the headlight to retrieve your 12mm socket

11) while busy with the rasp, take a couple of inches off the widtrh of your hand, saves dissapointment when you realise your hand will not fit in "that" gap.

12) ignore all the above and really enjoy youre first marlboro of the day (that doesnt taste of oil) and a cold bud in the knowledge that it is done :)

I couldn't agree more.
