Hi folks, wonder if anyone can help with this little problem...

When I first got my Zed I noticed the interior light (and sometimes the "door open" light on the dash) came on occasionally when going overa bump at high speed. I could also hear a relay or something clicking in the rear left wing so I assumed it was due to the tailgate. A quick search of this forum found a similar problem, and suggested I should adjust the tailgate latch for a tighter fit, which I did several times - each time making it worse!

When I was adjusting the latch, I noticed that when all 3 bolts are loosened the clicking goes crazy when I just touch the single bolt (on the left as you look down into the boot), even if I don't seem to actually be moving anything (but not in response to wiggling any wires..). It all settles down again when I tighten the bolts up, but now the relay chatters away almost continuously in normal driving at anything over about 40 mph... so am I right in thinking it's a sensor or switch which is on the way out? I gather it's in the actual lock mechanism - is fixing it a job I should be able to do myself? (my car-fixing abilities are not brilliant but I'm prepared to have a go...). If so, then where exactly is the sensor/switch, how do I get it out and where can I get a new one? And finally, am I likely to bugger up my alarm in any way (even temporarily) if I don't get it sorted in one go ??

Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Any advice appreciated....

Cheers,

John

i found that it was the little plunger on the door frame that turns the light out when u shut it wasnt being pushed in enough, i just took off the rubber cover and packed some crap init to pack it out, think i used some small pieces of card about 5mm square,

trying pulling the door shut hard when your driving to see if it cures the clicking, if it does then this fix will work

Thanks beermonster, but I don't think there is a plunger for the tailgate is there? In any case, I definitely can't reach it when I'm driving..!! ;)

Cheers,

make sure your doors are closing fully (adjust the latches). That's what mine was doing.
