Air filters

Forgive me for being dumb, but this is first forray into my Zed engine compartment ;)

How much are standard air filter elements and any ideas on who might stock them in Bristol?

How do I get the nose section off?

I took out the two screws at the top and it aint moving.

I lifted it and peered underneath there seems to be two nuts at the very bottom near the bumper...Bastards! ;)

How the hell do I take the section off, it's going to be a nightmare to get to the nuts at the bottom and I don't want any screws or nuts falling off where I can't get them again.

Sorry for being a bit stupid ;)

I'm going to clean the TPS later and see if that helps.

My mate took the car out and said the power (what there was of it) felt too smooth and there's no feeling of it really going for it, it just smoothly increases speed.

So it looks like its a change of plugs and filters for me, but I want to do what I can aswell to get it running nicely.

2 screws then it slides back towards the engine.

dont know how much stock ones cost, i fitted a JWT filter for $100 from courtesy ;)

Thanks all,

I managed to get two from Halfords of all places at £13.99 each so not too crippling, (they may be Halfords ones but they have to be better than the ones in there, cleaner anyway)

I have some very fine wet & dry, some WD40 and my toolkit so I'm now off to break my Zed ;)

It's pretty shit to drive at the moment, no power at all so I hope it'll improve after I have had my hands on it!

I got Halfords ones for my Z when I first got them. They didnt fit very well and I had to cut away some of the foam rim to make it fit.

Thats why I got an induction kit. Its either £28 for 2, twice a year or £120 and never have to change it again.

Stuart

I found out they don't fit ;)

Gonna have to take them out and cut them down :(

Can't get the nose back in place (it was pretty fiddely to get out in the first place.)

Can't get the clip back on the TPS :(

Bastard car!!!

Still there were loads of leaves and shit in one of the air boxes and the TPS was pretty green.

Idling is still over the shop and I can't take it out to test it cos I can't get the nose back on.

I may take it out anyway even without the nose in place but I need to get the clip on the TPS.

I'm having one of those days :(

Hve you got the tech on how to do the TPS? Cos if you put it on in slightly the wrong position it will cause the car to idle too high.

You really need a circut tester to do it correctly.

Stuart

Well, the idle is rough as before, (probably plugs)

And it still feels as flat as a pancake when you floor it, kickdown is OK but hardly exciting :(

Also couldn't get the front of the nose panel back in no matter how hard I tried and I couldn't get the clip back on the TPS.

Bollocks!

So the car has a slight lip by the nose panel and the TPS will probably fall off when I go over a bump!

F**k it!

I've had enough of it for one day :(

I'll try and sort the problems tomorrow.

Hi Eric

Stock filters from Nissan £31 a pair, part number 16546-30POO.

I found only Nissan filters will fit, as they have a bevelled edge.

When I changed mine, I had to take off all the clips take the hoses out, fit the filters in the box, then replace hoses and clips.

Lots of cursing and swearing to be expected. Good Luck :D :D

Bob

Cheers Bob,

Done some cursing, going to get drunk now ready to do more cursing tomorrow ;)

I tested out the ones my place do for the zed, well chuffed pefect fit and cost a tenner for the pair.
