Recently Bridgestone announced that S-02's were being discontinued to be replaced by S-03's. I just tried to order a set of S-02's and they were out of stock but S-03's are available at about the same price.

I called Micheldever and for standard sizes they quoted Fr 106.27, Rear 122.72 for their remaining S-02's. So the deal is if you want S-02's then crack on and order them. I'm taking a chance and getting a set of S-03's from MJP next Monday. I'll let y'all know how they go.

Andy, are you a special kind of squirrel creature that hoards tyres during the summer ready for the winter?

What's wrong with those lovely Potenzas that I clocked on your car?

You always seem to be buying tyres mate...LOL!

Timbo,

Those lovely Potenza's have brand new unworn sidewalls and naff all tread !

I'm getting standard sizes (225/50/16 & 245/45/16). You can see the tread pattern in the link, similar-ish to the S-02 tread, but different. Don't know yet whether they have that nice rim protector built in yet though ...

Andy,

I think you should check your tracking bud! Just a thought but my first set lasted only 1500 miles frown.gif did the tracking for the second set and they are well over 3k with bugger all signof wear! smile.gif AND they're only shitty Fuldas biggrin.gif

AndyD,

Actually, it's not quite as bad as it looks. This the the first set of tyres I've bought for almost a year and I think I've eeked them out to about 7K. I did mention that I'd ordered some in a recent-ish post but that got postponed because I've been out of the country a bit recently and also because I swapped the backs from side to side to even out the wear.

On the subject of tracking I've had it fully checked and they find no problems. My rears wear faster on the outside as does my front left. The Front right is fine. The prognosis so far is that the front right tyre is faulty as it doesn't even run true (round).

I was considering lowering the car a little which does usually tends to lead to more wear on the inside, but I decided against it as I already hit the underside on the speed ramps at work and the front on the entrance to the underground carpark.

Got the new tyres - luverly. Look a bit wider than the old ones because the sidewalls are straighter than the S-02's. The rim protector is a little less pronounced though which may a problem if you're into clunking kerbs. Maybe this keeps the sidewall thinner and the temp down.

Also, had a long chat with Pete at SE and he has explained, and can solve my slightly uneven tyre wear, so I'll be booking it in for that once the tyres have settled down in 4-500 miles.

SE will solve your tyre problem and start another lol. plus it will only cost about 2 grand
