Gio!

What are you doing on here?

We are talking about modifying Z's!!!!!!!!:D

But, does it make any difference?

James300,smw1,you could settle this at the Zclub meet on the 18th at the Pod:D :D ,Just to add to the confusion,my engine came out of a manual, and i have JWT 500's,but the car is an auto, performs differently to my other true auto's,must be something to do with the cam in the manual motor;)

forget auto V manual and lets talk more about this screw!!

anyone want to do actual tests with it up and with it down?

I would do but I don;t want to touch anything until I get my engine problem sorted :D

well I have an 89 jap manual with screw fitted, and the kind loan of a conzult. What test would you like to see?

Has no one read my posts?

Yes I have dont it. The throttle now moved about 1/2 an inch further down. Not really any difference at high speeds, but I am sure 1st and 2nd gear are more responsive because of the easier air flow.

Hehehe. Every one get that.? ;)

Stuart

I've got the solid block on mine :(

But then I have got an auto so it's not all bad ;)

But there's no way I'm letting myself lose in my engine bay with a file ;)

I'm really wondering now why some have the screw and some the solid block.............who can we ask?

Maybe on the last stage of the assembly line, Mr Mechanic takes it round the block........comes back and says "that one is pretty rapid/slow, don't/do need the screw on that one"

ha ha.....that was a joke.;)

nothing like statistical evidence though, ever seen days of thunder when tom cruise over takes on the 4th corner with his special tyres :) it was psychological. have you got any time tests?

Yeah and I have a set of tyres which are totally fecked and another set which are almost new, plus with the screw in I was 2 seconds faster ;)

Where do you suppose I get these times from?

Stuart.

OK. All chip in for a dyno run and I will be happy to put my car up for the experiment. ;)

Better than what that yank said. "That 0-100 in what ever time it took. " And his car stalled LOL

Truthfully there is little more I can say. Because the spedo isnt accurate enough to use that for 0-60. Some one with a stop watch isnt good enough to time 0-60.

The only real way to see if it makes a difference is to put it on a rolling road, but there are even problems with that as not enough air reaches the engine and heating problems. :(

All we can do is ask some one else with the screw to adjust it and let them try. The more people we can get saying yes or nay, the more of an idea we will get.

Stuart

My thought is that it wont do any harm. Now, any one know and good engine rebuilders.? ;)

All I can say is my car has been going very well lately. When driving the car just feels pissed off that Im going so slow and it cant wait for me to floor it.

But lately I have also cleaned the PTU and MAS so that may have something to do with it.

Stuart

Looked into this today on my car (Jap, 1992, Series II, auto-engine).

I reckon that there is a tiny amount to be gained here, but certainly not much in my case. Probably 3-4 degrees on the butterfiles I think. Way to confirm this would probably be a before and after reading of the TPS voltage on a Techtom. I did take a little material off the top of the block, but I very much doubt whether it will make any noticable difference. Unfortunately, I didn't think of the TPS part before I did the grinding ! :(

Did mine yesterday by reshaping the tab that hits the block. The butterflies were deffo not opening fully before hand.

Don't know if it made much difference as I changed the chip at the same time :D
