been trying to sort out a problem with brake squeal on my '90 import N/A. I have taken pads out and replaced them having lubed with some copaslip but still have the problem. Ive just been searching old postings on this forum and have seen shims mentioned. I assume these are the thin vented plates behind the pads? Mine seem to be corroded with the paint or coating flaking off in places. Is it possible that this could be my problem? If so, where can I get replacements and how much?

Think there's 2 shims behind each pad. One with slots in it and one thats kind of half cut away so that the pad meets the disc with a kind of one edge first contact. Maybe you are missing these. Think you have to get them from Nissan. The manual shows them in the brakes section
