Morning people,

I'm getting a little worried. When i take a left turn, i'm getting a clicking sound btu when i do a right its ok. Any ideas on what it could be?

I think it might be the CV joints. If thats the case, does anyone know how much hey cost?

Cheers

classic case of cv joints (i stand to be corrected) but sounds like the problem.

any idea on cost?

Ring round a few places, I had one go on my Saab Turbo...£275 large at Saab main dealer. So I will be interested in the cost of a CV on a Z monster!

Sorry can't be more help on this one. Let us know what sort of prices you get matey.

I could be wrong in thinking this but the clicking you get on CV joints when going round corners only happens on FRONT WHEEL DRIVE cars!!! This is because you are actually turning the cv joint that is worn. I know there is rear wheel steering on a zed but not enough to make the cv joints click. With a rear wheel drive car you don't get clicking from CV joints when going round corners smile.gif

CheerZ,

Andy

I'm in serious danger of sounding like a moron here, but aren't CV joints usually just on Front Wheel drive cars.

I know the 300zx has RWS, but surely not enough to make this a noticable problem. The movement is only a degree or so.

The only time I had to have a CV joint replaced was about 7 years ago on an Astra GTE. To notice it the wheels had to be on full lock, and it wasn't a clicking sound it was a hard knocking vibration through the steering wheel.

STRANGE!!!!!

Sorry Andy,

As I was typing out my reply, you must have posted yours!

And what a scary similarity!!!

I need to lay off those late night movies!

Are you sure the clicking isn't the sound from your indicators ? wink.gif

Dave

oh man now you have me doubting my intelligence!!!! do rear wheel drive cars have cv joints lol this could turn out amuzing

Warren Explains his fuel consumption anyway biggrin.gif

Timmy - I'll sell you some front CV joints for a Zed if you want - dunno where you'll fit em though biggrin.gif

Interesting comments guys!

I've got 245x45x16's on the front and the rear. I know the fronts are supposed to be 225x45x16's but i got the car like that and the tread is new so i'm gonna leave it for a little while. I dont think its scraping cos i get it when i turn just a little bit. It also happens when i brake.

Thanks for the comments smile.gif
