Hi all... I'm hoping someone can help me... my turbo gauge is no longer working....it won't move from -14........ also on the dash, a light in a little box has appeared with hicas in it......could anyone tell me what these problems could be please.....any help is much appreciated...thanks

stuck at minus 14 on the turbo guage is a bit unusual. If the air pipe to the sensor was off or burst it would show zero and you'd have rough idle with the air leak - should hear it hissing too.

Might be a broken or stuck guage as it is electrical (I think?)

As to Hicas light it is most often due to low power steering fluid. It uses the same hydraulic system - Check and top up!

Thanks for your reply Willie, much appreciated mate,

Well now at least the hicas light is solved, all I need to solve now is the stuck gauge.

Yeah the turbo gauge is electrical I think. If the hose comes off the needle stays at 0. If your turbos have failed it wont go over 0.

Does the needle goto 0 when you turn off your engine?

Thanks for your reply stuart mate...... but the answer to your question is "NO, the gauge does'nt move at all from -14 with engine on or off.

Sounds silly but the needle mat be stuck. When I took my dial pod apart and played a little with the dials, but not the fuel! I noticed that if you moved the boost needle too far to the side it stayed there. But may just be a faulty sensor.

Try this - open the bonnet and at the very rear corner of the

bulkhead , drivers side is a little oblong shaped box.

Thats your boost sensor - take of the short vacuum pipe

at the T connector (still leaving other end connected to sensor)

get a syringe or something similar and stick it in the end of the

little vac pipe - now when you pull or push the plunger you should see the needle move on the gauge. If that doesn`t work

then I think your going to have to get at the gauge itself.

But first you need to know if its a vac or elec problem

Cheers

Mark

ps you might need your ignition on at same time.

If it doesn't move at all it's probably not getting power. The only other possibility as mentioned above is the needles stuck but i doubt its "that" stuck.

Remove the two screws that hold the instrument cluster 'hood' on and check the connections to the back of the cluster are secure - shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. Mine keeps doing this every so often but since the car still runs, SOD IT :D Also got aftermarket boost guage so never use that POS anyway :)

Thanks to all who have replied to my problems...much appreciated,

The hicas problem is solved, thanks to you's,

The gauge however is still stuck....but i'll try what you have said Andy..... If no luck.....then I'll take your 2nd opinion.. and SOD IT.
