Mmmmm...Keys fall out of ignition at any time!

Can anyone else remove their key from the ignition at any time?

Like when the engine is running

It's handy for when the car is running and you need to go back into the house without turning off the engine, but it does worry me.

Fortunatly the steering lock doesn't seem to work or my keys falling out of the ignition when driving could be a disaster

Mine does the same. I should have to press a button next to the key to release it, but the previous owner has wired in a small box that bypasses the button. They must have done it when the turbo timer was fitted, to allow the key to be removed with the turbo timer running.

Mine does the same and a little pointer to check.. Do u need the key to turn the lock? On mine any random key or indeed a screwdriver will turn it, im guessing it means the lock is completely shafted, i just quickly got my CAT1 installed and it doesnt worry me anymore.

Why don't they work the same as most cars, you can only take the key out with the engine off?

Seems strange.

Does anyone else have a working steering lock or is mine FUBAR?

Yeah Eric mine does work I can only take the key out by pressing button.

Geoff.

OK, so mine's FUBAR then :D

Nevermind, one less thing to break if somebody steals the Zed.

Although it wouldn't take long to spot a Pikey driving a white Zed in Bristol, not exactly a Ford Escort is it ;)

My keys come out with the engine running, but only due to the turbo timer and i still have to press the button.

Dont think your problem is the turbo timer, think its either a knackered barrel or button thingy.

Mine only comes out when you switch off, press the button (its a manual) and turn key all the way back. Presume that the Auto interlock has been bypassed on some of your cars for turbo timers and the like.

Paul

have to agree with paul, mine only comes out when you follow the procedure. Thank f**k.:)

Both my Nissan Silvias had the same problem.

Must be zed triat then ;)

certainly sounds like knackered barrel, timer on mine and have to press the button in and then turn the key back.
