Dont know why but got caught short and had to re-fuel at morrisons, normally has optimax to "drink" but i had little option than to put their LRP in the tank so just stuck a tenner in the tank, to be safe as i was almost empty, but get this, it absolutely loves it:D , im not kidding its smoother, doesnt feel as grough and seems to accelerate far quicker and smoother with far more pull and instant throttle response, almost unbelievable, either this fuel is better, or the optimax from the garage i go to has problems as i have since filled up again at another morrissons and all is still well, very well. And as if thats not good enough here is the best bit, an extra 40 miles per 20 quid, im now getting 100 miles per 20 quid when just before it was getting only 60 per 20 quid, so i am one happy z owner, baffled but happy, go on tell me this is what happens just b4 they sef destruct, any on else dare to try it ????

LRP? This stuff is very expensive, designed for cars which run leaded fuel, zed is very much unleaded, not sure quite how this can be better than unleaded.

I wouldnt use it, it can't do it any good.

I remember I put LRP in my MG once my accident after an unleaded head conversion, it didn't run to good and the carbs had to be cleaned out. might have been unrealted though.

As long as you have a de-cated zorst system LRP will do no harm, will do more harm to your wallet at the prices it sells for,my local charges £1.10p a litre,

Yes, I think that this fuel attackes the catalytic convertors making them ineffective.

But I know that old leaded 4 star was 99 octane or something?? Maybe this LRP is near to it too???

Robert.

Yep LPR is 99RON.

AY3388's friend only puts Super into his highly tuned Lancia Delta not able to find any Super he phoned Shell or Esso or something, and asked where he could get some. I think this was during the petrol crisis. After looking for him they told him to put LPR in becuase its is Super but they put some chemicals in to make it run like 4 star.

Aren't you meant to change your timing if you put 4 Star in or LRP. Cos its has a reputation of burning valves out when put into Unleaded engines.

Stuart

So whats with changing the timing then if you put LRP in? Do you retard it or advance it?

So can you do an easy de-cat job by running on LRP for a while? Of do you have to take all the bits out too?

Hasnt LRP got the additives to coat the exhaust valves to lubricate and stop them wearing apart from the octane rating? - One of the functions of lead until the arrival of hardened valve seats.

I think you just get left with 2 dead cats rather than a de cat - poisoned, expired, deceased etc. Maybe better check with the chemists as the LR stuff might even lead to the honeycomb ceramic structure getting furred up with additive and a zed with two tight pussy's wont breath at all! This could be one time when happiness isnt!

The octane rating on the pump said 97+, and im de-catted already. It only costs 77p a liter up here.:D

If you have no cats, its only 77p/litre, your z runs better, it burns cooler, has less chance of detonation and it smells better, use it! I have been using LRP with my no cat Z on and off since the fuel crisis and I have had no problems, only better running.

Please please please, if someone has a reason as to why we shouldn't use this on a de-cat Z then please say so and why.

Only way to DeCat any car is to remove them I am affraid. Dead cats are the worst, especially on Z's.

Paul

Yes collapsed cats can cause turbo failure I belive and damage to the engine.
