Noisy Fan when starting?

I started my car from cold tonight and noticed a noise from the front which I think is the radiator fan. I've never noticed this before , and surely it shouldn't be on when the car is cold? Should it?

Cheers,

Tony, the main fan runs continuously, but i think you mean the auxillary electic fan, as this is the noisey one. Very possible your temp sensor is loose if you pop the bonnet start it then give it a waggle to see if it stops, most people replace them with a new clip, mines got a cable tie wrapped tightly round it for now!!!
