Engine noise + any idea's

Lad's o Lad's

Any idea's????

Just brought first ZX. 92 non-turbo, totally standard, very good con - it flew through MOT yesterday- wahey!

anyway... I have an intermittent engine noise. Not a tapping or pinging but a v load whining. Sounds like fan or belt related problem.

Then at 5000rpm a v high pitch squeaking

Car OK for 2weeks, then the noise starts for a few days - then goes for a few days, then back for few days ... and so on

Any performance recommendations?

for induction kit + back boxes

cheers

I'd check the tension of the belts ?

I wouldn't waste too much money on performance upgrading a NA.

intake/exhaust, UD-pulley, higher rev-limiter (chip)..that's about it.

I currently have a turboed NA (test project car) and it's very fast, but for the extra money spend you have a good TT.

intermittent (or howver the ell u spell it)

clutch on the fan ... different between cold and warm days ?

usually noisy belts go away with high rpm ????

Cheers!

I shud of gon to skool then I could spell and aford a newer Z..!!

No difference between cold and warm days.

Problem comes and goes while driving -

Noise start after 2.5 / 3k rpm. 3-4k rpm sound like a loud sucking noise louder than the exhaust note. 5-6k squeaks.
