do a quick search and you'll see people use most of the common well known brands. I use Mobil 1 peronally.

There are no right and wrong answer, but I think we will all agree on a few critiera.

1. Fully Synthetic oil, semi synthetic minamum. NEVER MINERAL OIL!

2. Major brands only. Dont go for ones you never heard of, stick with Castrol, Mobil, Helix (Shell), things like that.

3. Do an oil change very often. 3000-4000 miles.

4. High mileage engines, dont get oil with low temperatures. I used 0-40 and it was too thin and my engines made noises. Go for 5 minimum prefably 10 or 15.

I use Catrol RS (10w60) in my TT. I believe that SE use the same oil (from their catalogue).

It can be hard to find but I buy it by the 25 litre drum (much cheaper) direct from castrol.

If anybody is interested in buying it by the drum then I can order it for you and get it shipped direct to you.

I have to say, i put 10w60 castrol in on my last service and its been far and away the best oil i have used, in regards to how my car settles down in the morning to how quite it is at tickover (noticably quiter) very chuffed with this so far, pity about the price :(

I think SE stopped using 10w60 becuase it was difficult to get hold of and needlessly expensive. They now (or did last time I was there) seem to use Morris 10w50 fully synth - the same as me. Get it from your local motor factors for about £25 for 5 litres.

Rmemeber that Castrol Magnatec is SEMI-synthetic and does nothing that other good oils don't - ignore the adverts ;) Cold start protection is by use of friction modifiers which coat the metal surfaces.

I use Castrol RS 10-60 too.

Group buy on 25litre drums anyone.

ArundaleP

How much can you get a 25litre drum of Castrol RS for ????

Will check the price and let you know.

Will check out bulk discount if we can do a group buy.

Paul

Just to get an idea, would all those interested in a group buy please just reply to this message. I can then get a better price off the rep if I have the numbers.

interested , price dependant of course:D

I get Helix Ultra discounted from work, so doubt it would save me money.

LMAO i have explained this before, all the pussy in the neighbourhood follow me around, so if i put it in the engine id be swamped by London :D

I'd be interested in a barrel.

Castrol RS 10-60 is the oil I just stuck in mine - NO MORE STICKY LIFTERS!!!! It really made a huge difference to the smoothness of the engine. I could well be interested in more if the price is good too ;)

I would do - but not sure whether I could buy numerous packs and can't remember the exact cost - think 4 litres was ~£24, as opposed to over £30 in the shops.

Will find out if you are interested.

I got my RS cheaper than that delivered to my door, surely the perks of working at the Shell are better than that Nelly or are you not letting on? ;)
