Just fitted a new motherboard and new modem this morning with a fresh install of XP.

I can get on the internet but only once per boot up of the computer.

Once I disconnect if I try to connect again it says there is a problem with the moden and cannot dial up but if I query the modem in the properties everything is fine. After re-booting everything works fine again.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Paul

if the modem is internal make sure it isn't in the 3rd PCI slot, the 3rd PCI slot always has problems with network and sound devices.

Make sure you use the drivers from the modem disk or download new ones.

If XP has installed it's own they might not be the right ones?

What is the motherboard and what is the modem?

Is the Modem CPIC complatable? I think its called CPIC. Its when perpherals can use IRQ's above the traditional 16. I know new motherboards support it and Windows XP does, but the modem may not. I had trouble with my old DVD Decoder Card with the CPIC setting.
