Well I got the info from TT.net and did the diagnostic, no error codes.

Nissan did the consult, no error codes

car still has hesitation, smell of fuel, and poor fuel economy....Nissan have cleaned all sensors, replaced fuel filter, cleaned throttle bodies and butterflies, set up TPS

what more can I do?

You said smell of fuel, try and get that sorted, could be just a jubilee clip needs tightening, but could be faulty Fuel Regulator/Fuel Damper, fuel pump.....Maybe its a coincidence. Check the fuel pressure is correct. See if anyone will lend you their MAS to rule that out.

OK, then I found this for you last night on Zhome.com...it's still being worked on but there are alot of excellent tips and advice on how to systematically track this sort of problem down...

Check it out here fella!

Yeah i would go with Bilky on this one.

Check the Fuel Pressure Reg, Damper and Filter for blockage and failure - if the car is old then i would simply replace these - Also check for leaks in the hoses that connect to the fuel rail - You need to do this when cold really or the fuel will evaporate before you see it.

If the pump is failing you should normally get a buzzing from the rear of the car when you fire her up - especially in the mornings.

If the fuel smell and Hesitation is Very very bad it could also be a O ring on the Injector has failed in which case be carefull you dont start a fire.

If all that fails then check thru the Hesitation article on Zhome.com i think Timmy posted the link...

Good luck in finding it, and be sure and tell us what it was when you sort it.

This might sound funny, but the above link you posted, I printed the entire thing out a week ago (bout 24pages) and gave it to the Nissan guy, it didnt help him smile.gif

...that's probably because he didn't even do any of it! I constantly asked technicians at Nissan dealers if they had checked this and that after reading good posts on the web. All you get is "yeah, we've checked that!", bollocks have you! When they see a car with this sort of problem they don't want to know, just want to keep sucking money out of your wallet until you go away and they've made a nice profit out of you.

That's why most people tend to take it upon themselves to track these sort of problems down! Stick with it, don't TRUST Nissan guys, someone on here was told that they had head gaskett problems and that to do the head gaskett was a mare, and cheaper to get a new engine! WTF? Turned out the problem was a faulty radiator cap(sorted by Johnny and Hiteq), I was told by Nissan that my engine was KO'd but in reality it had been rebuilt recently and was not as bad as they led me to believe...could go on and on here.

You're in NZ aren't you? Guy who wrote that article is in NZ I think also, get in touch with him via email if you can and maybe he can help you more.

Keep us informed with how you get on, any other queries and all on here are always more than willing to help out.

Good luck mate.

Does it only start having problems when hot or when cold?

Where does the smell come from? Vents in car, only from bonnet outside, only with windows open etc?

Maybe you could borrow the nissan service manual off someone, it will help you.

Hesitates most of the time, worst when cold.

Petrol smell only smelt it like 2-3time from the inside and outside, not always there
