Have been looking at getting leather for my beloved z, i see that you can get the leather kit but am a bit confused, do you buy it in loads a bits then get some one to sew it up and fit it, do you take full car or do you remove seats and what sort of cost is involved ?? any one done it recently??

I can't give too much advice but I know that it takes a LONG time to do a good job. The quality of the job apparently depends on how much time you put in.

Luke at the Zcentre sells them and can give you all the advice you need.

Alternatively you buy a 2nd hand set of leather seats from me for £400.:) :) :) I'll even fit them for you !!

Thanks

I bought a full trim and seat kit from this place ZToyz.net

Front seats fitted - awaiting rest of trim and rear seat

Cost just under £700 shipped to UK, fitting costs can range from £40 per seat, £60 for the rear seat. Trim fitting I'm not sure on. Fitting costs may vary in your area.

The seats were removed one by one to have the trim fitted, the leather is secured by "hog rings"(metal rings) to the seat framework so any motor upholster place should be able to handle it.

I was quoted approx £1000 for a full leather interior by a place here in london - but they would have needed the interior pieces and seats for a while to make up the patterns - hence purchasing a ready made kit from the states. There is also a brand called "Katzkin" from the states - Do a search on..TwinTurbo.net for more info on that and Ztoyz interiors if interested in importing a kit.

Cheers,

Trev

Mine is booked in at the end of this month for a full interior overhaul in 2 tone leather.

I shopped around and most people quoted the same - £1500 +vat. This includes all the cloth areas, plus a re-trim of the gearstick and handbrake surrounds. plus retrim of the steering wheel.

It takes a full week and I'll have to be without the car for the duration.

While the interiors out I'm also taking advantage of the chance to install some sound deadening in the doors and panels, plus installing some new sounds.

Watch this space for photos when I get it back.

Trey,

Thanks for the link to Z Toyz, seems a very useful site.

What did you think of their service and the quality ?

I am thinking about ordering a replacement carpet kit from them but not being in a position to actually see the goods, makes me a bit cautious.

Cheers.

Service: Steve at Ztoyz is very polite and helpful, knows his product and how to apply it (the Z has very odd shaped seats in places). However delivery times on the trim and seat kit are very long currently :( - I'm not sure how long the carpet would take to arrive.

Quality: The Seat skins I recieved where of very high quality. The skins are not just leather pieces cut to shape and sewn together. The Ztoyz trim has reinforced seem stiching, every section foam backed with thicker foam padding on the centre sections. Both the me and the guy that fitted my front seats where suprised by the quality of the product .

I believe the carpet kit would be of the same high standard - I'm sure Steve could e-mail some detailed pics if your interested (he did the same before I purchased my kit).

Cheers,

Trev

If ordering a new carpet from the states, remember the obvious question - do you sell it for right hand drive. The footwells are different, and it might not fit...

Jon.

I've been comprehensively looking for a decent set of mats and have had no luck from the states at all......... time to divert my attention to Japan maybe..........?

I am looking to replace most of my interior as mine is currently pretty tatty.

I need to try to locate the following bits and wonder if anyone else knows of an interior place that could help.

I have a 2 seater RHD.

I may be looking to replace the entire boot interior. The carpet I know I can get from Z Toyz (Thanks Trev), how about the moulded plastic surround that lines the inside of the boot.

I would also be looking to replace the carpeted 'Tray' part that lies between the seats and the rear boot.

The last part I may have problems with would be the almost vertical panel that is directly behind the seats. Does this get re-trimmed with some of the leather kits ?

Your help as always is greatly appreciated !

This bit?

If that is the part then Ztoyz cover it. Also any retrim place should be able to cover it if they have the section to work from.

Trev

Thats the boy Trev !

I can see where the old trim was replaced but the black panel itself is looking tatty and I need to replace that as well.

Any ideas ?
