Does it do it for about a second or two? That'll be the fuel pump priming the fuel lines - perfectly normal ;) Although fuel pumps do get noisey as they wear out - does it buzz when the engine is running?

CheerZ,

Andy

What sort of funny noise?

if its a grinding sound it could be the starter or the ring-gear.

starters an easy job, but ring gear is clutch out...

Hi.....

Is the noise when you turn the key to start the car ?

Have you checked your battery connections for tightness & are they clean............Dave

my battery connections were checked and replaced recently by mr turner, probably not that, though i will check them tomorrow

it is when i turn the key, it makes a horrid noise and doesn't start turn the key second time its fine

time to service the zed

need to ring dufflecoat

Sounds like you could have a few teeth missing from your flywheel:(

I get this when my battery is on the way out (or, as has been said, some bad connection somewhere).

The bendix isn't spinning quite fast enough to get the gear to engage fully with the teeth on the flywheel. So it graunches.

So battery or connections - or starter motor is my guess.

Good luck - Gio

Emero .....most accessory shops will do a free battery check.......might be worth a try. At least it will eliminate one thing.
