Ok following on from the previous threads re FAQs locally on this site, what is everyones opinion? Once we decide we need some ideas/requests for topics (if the answer is yes ;)), also will need some input from other members possibly for photos and write ups...

yo da man, duffer !;)

This can only be considered a good idea........you and Wazza getting together on this one?

I will gladly write up the bits and bobs I've undertaken on my Z and if everyone did that it would be an excellent reference section!

(we can nick SRRAE's recent posts for starters!) Anyone who's looked at that must agree how good it was. SMW1 has written up all he's done.......GIO aswell I think........we're well on the way to a brilliant section I think...........

Something new on here to get stuck into will be really good.

I'm just going through my mind the jobs I've done (urgh!) on my Z......there a quite a few, much the same as most I guess! If they were all documented........people might be directed HERE instead of elsewhere! So more hits......more members........its all good.

surely no-ones going to vote against this???

ohhh myself and Andy P's site could be made redundant.

I'm gonna vote NO !!..

Only kidding. Of course it's a good idea. Bet it don't happen though. It's been tried before if I remember rightly. Good luck in getting thisup and running, anything you want from, just give me a shout.

yeah we should take those two sites and use there info on this site, bring it all under one roof, i mean Andy P's site is very very good, Stus site well ermm it looks like it was written by his MAMA :D

bith great sites but we need all info on this one.

Hehe, my site won't be redundant, it's accessed by Zeders throughout the world - I'm always surprised where when I look at the stats too. So anything on here I would provide links to as well, so that would probably imcrease the number of readers.

Anything we publish has to be of appropriate quality and accuracy, so smelling errors and technical up-cocks need to be elimininated if it is to be used and respected.

Ok then, hows about a dedicated forum for write ups/discussions about them etc? Once everyone agrees an FAQ is correct etc it could then be put up as an official link. Any thoughts? Anywhere on the server to upload images to, rather than the rides section???

CheerZ,

Andy

Damn, Andy kinda beat me to it :D

Great minds think alike (simple ones seldom differ LOL)

As for pictures, we may have an issue with bandwidth at the moment, will need confirmation from Craig/Mike Groves. I think the solution is to load pics onto the rides section, but last time I checked that was still Donald Ducked and there's nothing I can do to fix it.

great idea for us erm.... non technical people:o

Can we make it easy to reference in sections cos then i can read it and print it off,

so i won't have to ask daft questions anymore.....

So if's its not in the FAQ section free to ask a techie question still??

Yep def a good idea, I would be happy to do any html etc, but i wouldn't trust myself doing a write up - blown up engine anyone? lol

As a common questioner, I'd defo support a site that answeres all my questions...liek:

how do flies land upside down?

how do solar powered torches work?

and why the hell people wanted to see Jodan giving birth on the Net?????

oh... and all those questions about the car as well :D

Right time to suggest some topics :) So far its 15/0 FOR, so sod anyone else who can't be bothered voting - tough :D

- Engine oil/filter change - although not asked often I'm sure ppl would do it themselves if they had an idea how to...

- Where are my water/oil etc check points for regular service checks?

- My car doesn't idle properly (TB clean, IAC valve clean etc)

- How to do ECU diagnostics

- Common torque settings/capacities etc

- PTU replacement

- My Zed is dead - where do I start This would require some kind of easy to follow flowchart

- Tension rod bushes replacement

- Engine removal :D:D:D

- Gearbox removal :D:D:D

- General maintanance procedures - spark plugs, auxiliary belts, fuel filter etc

I'm sure some of the above are not required but lets see what people want - like I said - a dedicated forum for people to request/suggest topics would be an idea...

CheerZ,

Andy

Also important to make them as detailed (read, simple) as possible (with appropriate safety warnings) so the novice can have a go.

Am going to vote, because in the 18 months that I owned my Zed before finding this site, I would have saved myself some money / time had I had something definitive to which to refer.

Bwahahahahaha who voted NO then? Any chance they could be BARRED from reading the new section? They obviously don't need it :D:D:D

Good cos now that gives me the chance to say something I always wanted to say to a doorman:

Macca, YOU'RE BARRED MATE! :D:D:D:D

ROFLLMFAO:D thank fook;)

Yep, lets get this cracking on...

Can we have a dedicated forum for now and go from there? Everybody feel free to suggest ideas and we'll see what we can produce... Of course this also follows to the question of whether or not to have a Vote to FAQ option on threads... fun and games for Craig - sorry m8 - you're gonna have to work for your money ;) :D:D:D

one little thing a star difficulty rating next to certain jobs, 1 star easy peasy 5 stars ...... argghhhhhh

so I then can run away and employ Andy Duffman to do it for me, :D

Very good idea emero.

But then I find that difficulty with the 300zx, really depends on the size of you hands.

I had great difficulty in changing the gear shift bushes and the left side O2 sensor (cut my self silly), but no problems removing the air box and installing an induction kit.

It's something people like me need desparately so I don't have to pester Andy so much. By the way my PCV valves are here tomorrow so shut your curtains Andy & don't answer the door.

Would it venture on to things like common ice jobbies, turbo timers and boost uping (controller and jets)?

Also when i did my compression test recently i took pics, might be useable? Admittedly it is v.easy tho!
