evening all again, and thanks to those that offered advice on power gains/ induction

I have just been for a run in the zed and tried the a/c, the blower works fine but no heat. A friend tells me that there is a (simple?) test to see whether it is a small component or a major one. Anyone have a clue what he is talking about?

tried the air con .... u mean heater ????

if the engine is running at normal temp

i.e. needle horizontal

the fan is operating, it could be that the heater matrix is blown and somebody has simply by passed it .....

of it could be the motor that cotrols the heater flaps ....

any 1 else ??

To get heat press econ button after auto button.

Well it could be that simple!!

Also you have to wait quite a few minutes for it start operating if on auto.

remember to set your required temperature as well - if its set too cold it will blow cold. Sorry if this is too obvious.

On Econ the compressor is always off but the aircon still controls temperature to your required level. Even on Auto with the compressor on the ecu cuts the compressor out when you go for full throttle - just while your foot is on the floor!

Also your friend is prolly talking about whether the aircon has gas in it and a working compressor or not. If you ve a thermometer you stick the aircon on auto and minimum temp - LO with the windows open. Put the thermo on the main vents where the freezing cold air should be coming out. If you read down to around 8 deg C then I think your aircon is OK.

I will try the above and see if it works.

My mate was talking about removing some pipes and jointing them without the unit (solenoid? (don't ask me I am a bike man!)) and if the heater then worked the unit was knackered.

All i know on this is that if you put the demist on (with the temp set at 35)it will blow air at the screen regardless or the engine temp but when the engine gets warm it will blow hot air as opposed to the colder air it started off with, but if you set it to say 35 auto the blowers will not kick in untill the engine has devoloped sufficiant heat in the water to blow the hot air into the car.

Silly question but you have checked youve got any or enough water in the system, as no water means no heaters.........which is commonly followed by buggered engine!!
