Got a rolling road session yesterday to check out the car was alright after my impressions that it was tailing off at 5500 rpm. Seems that I was just used to driving a car with a 6000-8000rpm power band, and there's nothing actually wrong with the Z.

Anyway, power came out at 309bhp, 327ftibs torque. Car has 41000 miles on it. Thought jap cars were only allowed 280 bhp ?!

Rolling roads are not particuarly accurate and the weather will make a noticable difference. They're greatest value is before/after or back to back comparisons, ideally on the same day. That said you may have a good'un, or it may not be entirely standard !

Is that power at the wheels or estimated at the crank. If that's at the wheels then either you have a tweaked car or the dyno needs calibrating.

Where did you get it done and how much was it ? I'm interested in getting mine tested.

There was a law passed in Japan that sports cars cant have more than 280bhp. How ever the Z was made just before that law, but they gave a de-tuned car for them to test. That is how the Supra 320bhp and the GTO/3000GT 320bhp where able to be made. De-tuned for Japanese law tests and Sup-uped ones for magasine road test.

Reading the above, with interest.

What does a std UK tt manual read.

Are these also limited to a (unwritten)

limit, or limited to a (nuff) hp.

As it pulls like a train on red bull.

A lot better since doing all the maintenance bits & tips from posts on here.

Cheers guys.

Boggo standard they will turn out about 280bhp at the crank, they don't tend to vary much as they are effectively 'set' to that level at the factory. As we all know once you remove some of the restrictions then it's rather a different story.

That was estimated flywheel power. Rear wheel bhp was 257.

Got it done at Robinsons at Cambuslang near Glasgow

Where are you? Not the only other red Z I've seen in Scotland? I'm in Falkirk. You auto or manual?

Willie

your torque figure is then to high as standerd they only make 289 foot pounds of tourque
