I get so p!ssed off when driving along a B-road when around the corner suddenly there's, for example, an 11 year-old trotting along on a horse on the road.

Surely there should be a lower age limit for being in control of such a large, and potentially dangerous, animal on the road  !

Then the 11 year-old will start directing traffic around her - horseriders are not insured remember! So if the horse flips and kicks a big hole in your car there nothing you can do but sort it yourself

An auntie of mine had a horse go apeshit while she was waiting to pass and kicked and damaged her car! She lost her no-claims because of it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm as cautious around horses as anyone, but I still sit fuming in my car when I see thins sort of thing.

Rant over

Pete

I know what you're saying Pete, if their horse decides to go "buckaroo" then we're left with a nasty bill.............

But its that 11 year old's older sister that kind of makes everything ok for me...........you can keep your nurses and french maids........girls on horses does it for me!

Yeah, crop tops and jodphurs - it's a powerful image !

Actually, there's a polo school near me and you often see the polo totty riding past on a warm summers evening .....

girls on horses = posh

I have a thing for posh birds

therefore hosrseriding good

But I know what you mean, I creep past them in any car as they go nuts, with my old cars exhaust at above 2krpm it would send them nuts and they would rear up. fricking scary. Although they should be taught how to behave on roads.

Pete im with you on this one there used to be a woman round my way (dont think i can go anywhere without going past a stables!!) that if she thought you were going to fast would twat your car with her whip as you went past and she wasnt one of those fit hourse riders either!!!

I live in London. What's a HORSE?:D

Its a free, virginal prostitute mate ;)

...and by the looks of things she comes with tight trousers and a whip!:D I must get around to venturing outside the M25 one of these days. Do I need shots? (if she's a virgin then hopefully not)

That's not what I heard - I reckon 11 yrs old is bang on 4 u D ;) :D Bwwahahahahaha

Oiiiiiiii Shrimp!

I can see that this is gonna flick my angry switch!!!

Where do you think BHP comes from? Horse Power!

We own a load of horses and remember that the roads that you claim are so much your own were mostly for horses long before the motor cack came along. Oh and most people that ride horses on the road DO have insurance, mainly to protect them and their animals from idiots like us!!! ;)

Only the Mrs Turbo ohhhh and her 18 year old friend from work who has an equally gorgeous twin sister! Yum! :D

I live in the country and so am well aware of the possibilty of horses around the next corner and I ALWAYS slow down, out of courtesy for the horse and rider.

But, having said that the 'The horse was first' brigade are a PITA, as I said I will without fail slow down to walking pace to pass so why do some riders deem it necessary to jesticuate for me to slow down more? If the animal is that terrorfied of motor cars then just perhaps it should be in a tin and not on the road.

Oh and has anyone noticed that the babminton horse trials are sponsored by Pedigree Chum!!

Once they start taxing hay at 400% to help pay for the upkeep to the roads (and removing the sh*t from the racing line), then you'll have a point! :D

Yeah? Laugh it up bud, I hear that in Kent soon you may have to change your surname to Hussein??? Tim Hussein??? Has a kind of ring to it don't you think? So that you blend in more with all the immigrants. :D :D

You could apply the "horses were here first" to so many other things... Pedestrians were around before cars but I wouldn't agree it's ok for them to walk on motorways etc...it's all about what the motorway was built for surely?

Tarmac roads are builts for cars, the horseriding community should've objected to the original laying of the roads. Maybe the government should build horsepaths like cyclepaths?

It's the way car drivers get disapproving looks, gesticulations etc from the riders that gets my back up.

WTF do they want us to do??? Veer off onto a neighbouring field (probably theirs anyway :D) and take a mile long detour through the countryside FFS!?

They've got their interest/mode of transport and we've got ours and thats fine but the way they look down on cars (;)) annoys me. Anyway - how many horseriders were around when cars weren't? - none.

Rant 2 over ;)

I reckon a nice set of HKS SUPER SEQUENTIAL's would show 'em who the road is for!

(joke!) :D :D I always slow down for horses, don't like driving through their sh1t though.

I don't mind horses - the riders are foten fit -but CYCLISTS !!

ROFL :D

I've corrected the spelling Dave, couldn't agree more! ;) :D

pete down here there is even a blody pedestrian crossing where there is two boxes one being moved up the poles so horse riders can actually use the pedestrian crosing!!

I used to ride a bike - I gave it away as I wouldn't want to cycle on roads today what with the speeds and number of cars - far too dangerous IMHO - even with a Deep Space 9 helmet on.:D
