Hi Guy's

Hope to fit a new steering wheel soon, is there much involved in getting the old one off.

How does it come off, does the horn push just pull up.

I'd like to fit a MOMO Commando, what happens to the horn and cruise control's are they easily moved.

Any help much appreciated.

Cheers Dave.

PS

Who sells Cheapest Momo Commando.

I can't remember exactly how the cover comes off - I think there is a screw under the wheel holding it on but could be wrong.

Once that's off there's a single large lock nut which needed a good hefty bar to get off on mine.

Then you need a special mounting hub from http://www.takakaira.com or similar.

A standard hub from most suppliers won't do on a Z as you need bits for the HICAS :(

I think it cost about £80 or something and will mount to any standard aftermarket wheel.

Bolt that on and bolt the Momo wheel to it.

The new wheel will come with a new horn button that plugs onto the existing harness.

The cruise buttons are a bit more tricky.

The best way is to take the old buttons off your stock wheel and mount them in the centre console or somewhere, then run 3 extension wires down from the steering column to the buttons.

I bought a snap-off hub kit too at about £80 for what to me seems like the ultimate in security.

I'd like to see someone drive my Z with no steering wheel! :D

It's a dead easy job to be honest once you've got the HICAS hub.

You sure about that? how about telling the truth :p

Before you take the wheel off make sure the steering wheel is central.

Yes the horn push on the stock wheel is held on by only a few clips, just pull it towards you.

Then you will see a large nut,use a socket with a large bar.

The horn stays where is is on the stock wheel so no problem there.

I relocated my cruise control near the mirror switch, using a Dremal to make a nice neat hole.

I also fitted a Momo Comando ;) but as Chris pointed out you gona need a steering wheel boss from Japan:(

Whats it like to drive with that on?? does it feel any different? does steering feel heavier, as thats a smaller diameter that youve got on now, i could quite fancy one

Gavo, there are two sizes in the Momo wheel 320 and 350mm,go for the 350mm as the smaller one will just get in the way of the top of your speedo/tac;)

I don't think there is much differance in size compared to the stock wheel, however this wheel is real nice to hold complete with pistol grips:D;)

Only changed it because I thought the stock one looked SHITE!

agree, it does, would be a doddle for me to do too as no cruise on mine to worry about.

LMAO!

OK I couldn't get the nut off with my kids toolkit!

Had to call in some muscle ala big mac to get it off :D

I've got a Momo Millennium on mine, feels so much nicer to drive now.

If it has no HICAS then a standard momo hub should do the trick I think.

At least you can try it and take it back if it doesn't fit.

They are only about £35 too so the NA is cheaper yet again!

Resurrecting an old thread here but I don't suppose any of you folks with these lovely after market wheels has the wheel centre badge from their old stock ones going spare? Can provide it with a good home!
