Was talking to Luke a while back and during the conversation he reccomended bonnet venting as an effective way of aiding engine cooling.

anyone here got bonnet vents and if so, do they help keep your engine a bit cooler?

Big Yay from me.

It has reduced the temp under the bonnet by a huge amount.

They definately work, its down to personal taste though, i want to do soem , but i dont want to take away from the stock lines on the bonnet. So i want vents but i want them cut into the bonnet flat (does that make sense?)

aka What they do often on the Poopras.

somethign along these lines, but far more subtle

On the vent/bulge I have the hole makes the water run down in front of the engine/behind the fan.

So not really a problem.

The other vents under the bulge at the windscreen don't get water into them.

It will if they look like this:( you seen how many connections are under a Z bonnet?

The vents I have fitted have drip trays so any water that gets in will just evaporate.

yes, and that helps cooling ;)

I agree with Warren (300z) wrt discrete vents. The heat Zeds can generate under that bonnet makes boinnet vents highly useful/desirable imho.

Thanks folks....

I think that the single large vent (a la Chris C) wiuld be the way to go. It will ruin the sleekness of the front a bit but sooner that than ruining the engine through overheating.

Thanks again

ive the same as macca but mine are moulded into my bonnet, they work for sure

Check Dick300. He's done it. He had some rain probs with water going on the injector conns I think and he had to put in some mod to shed the water. Maybe vis on his rides

if u don't do it, you can always fry eggs on the bonnet in the summer ;)

Check out http://www.coollouvres.co.uk/ thats who I'll probably get to do mine.

I don't really like the scoop and would prefer them cut into the bonnet. Just got to check where its only single skinned on the bonnet as this is only where you can have the louvres/vents pressed in.

You can keep the sleekness, but continuing the line to the headlight panel. SE sell theses, they improve the line.

Chris have you seen these, I think it would look great on your car mate.

Yeah I've seen them but it looks a bit odd from some angles.

It also means you have to alter the position of the main bulge on the bonnet to blend in so its not something you can add later.

I'm getting a new nose panel made up at the moment based on a Bomex design.
