Hi Guys

My car's come with 225/55/16's on the front and 225/50/16's on the rear! Will the extra 5% profile on the fronts significantly upset the handling? Unfortunately they've plenty of tread so I don't really want to replace them unnecessarily.

Cheers

Jon

Not really.

You should be fine. Lower profile tyres are only really for when you drive on the edge, the lower the profile the less the flex, and you shouldnt notice any difference until you push it to the edge.

What size should the tyres be, I heard 205/50 16 front and 225/50 16 rears?? Help, I need to replace a set and want to know the right size.:(

on a uk car the fronts should be 225 50 16's and the rears should be 245 50 16's

on jap models all the tyres are the same size : 225 50 16's

Or you can take to opertunity to make to car look really hot and put 245/45 's on

up the rims to 17's and it's the dog's b0ll0cks :D :D

and handles surprisingly well with a smooth ride.

Think you might find that they're 225/50 16 on the front and 245/45 16 on the rear standard Uk fit.

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

You may well have a point there....

In my own defence I must say oooops:rolleyes: :D

J spec wheels are only 7.5 wide so 225 are really max width.

UK cars are 8.5 at rear, so can take 245 width.

Check with tyre manufacturer recommendations before buying.

Interesting thought - does anybody know how the Anti-Skid system works, and also the aftermarket Traction Control?

If the front to back circumferences go too far out between the front and the back, could there be a possibility that one of these systems kicks in? The wheels would be turning at different speeds, and there perhaps is a recommended tolerence?

The limited slip works okay without problem, but this is on the same axel.

I'd say that technically yours has the wrong tyres on the front, but as it is generally accepted that you need wider rear tyres than fronts in order to maintain the steering balance, then it is possible that sometimes in Japan they put narrower tyres on the front, rather than wider wheels/tyres on the back.

Some cars from Japan arrive with UK spec rear wheels, but I'm not sure how they get ahold of those.
