Chaps/Chapesses,

As I rolled to a stop in traffic on the M20 this evening, I was rather disconcerted to find that the clutch would not disengage, causing embarassing stalling ...

Upon restart, normal service was resumed and I managed to drive cautiously home. However, I thought I'd try holding the clutch in once home and all of a sudden, it's gone again!

This time, it won't come back! A quick look under the hood reveals no clutch fluid in the resevoir, and a small puddle under the car ... so something am broke!

Question is: From searching it would seem that the slave cylinder is a common point of failure; how do I diagnose ... I understand the slave cylinder is on the gearbox somewhere?

Also, where do I find the master cylinder?

Anything else I should check before falling on the mercy of Andy Z?

Excuse my ignorance, any help gratefully received.

CheerZ,

John.:(

I've had to replace both the master and the slave cylinder in mine ! Very similar symptoms.

Not much fun in stop start traffic until you get it fixed :)

Slave cylinder will be found on the end of the clutch activating arm (you'll find it easily if you look underneath) and the master cylinder will be on the front of the bulkhead, directly attached to the resevoir.

Thanks Andy/Darren,

Seems like that's something to occupy my weekend, then ... :D

Marvellous!

(and it was all going *so* well) :)

CheerZ,

John.

I think the problem is due to your insurance company not being generous and donating your wreck to the ChrisC's old Z engine memorial fund :D

LOL!!!

Thanks Chris, for that helpful advice, you *$&%^%*$!!!!!!

BTW Chris, did I catch a glimpse of you out the corner of my eye, lurking by the M20 yesterday, waiting for Z road-kill?
