Anyone with '91 Z on...

Just read on TT.net differences section that when drivers side door handle is pulled up the lock should illuminate and the interior light comes on???

Reason for me asking about something so trivial is that my Bro had a Honda Prelude that did that which he and I thought was rather cool!

So when I had my Supra he used to take the piss saying "Yeah, but yours doesn't do this!" while demonstrating his blue illuminated keylock in the dark outside his house.

So if my Z should do it I will be most impressed, sure I tried it but nothing happened. Funny, every time I get a new car that's the first thing he tries and then ridicules me when it doesn't do anything...LMFAO! Little Git!

PS one other point about that interior light - mine last about 2 weeks and then change to a very silvery tint - coz they've popped frown.gif Anyone else het this or should I just carry a torch wink.gif

Hi Timmy

I also read somwhere on the net that the key lights up when you pull the drivers handle and interior lights ment to come on but mine doesn't, Maybe its just the US cars that do that , I got a UK Spec and the Interior light only comes on when you open the door ,I put in a cool Bright green bulp in today from motor-world 99p for 2 it looks great (Childish or what smile.gif.

See ya

Doh , 'Bulb' not 'Bulp' lol

Its too soon for me to see if i need a tourch Andy as i only put it in today so far so good.

I used to have a celica that did that.

I think it was just trying to be clever smile.gif

My zed however worries me, after I get in and start it up and start driving it locks both doors.

Woohoo shades of Christine methinks. Then I get out and lock it and it carries on running.

It then switches itself off.

I may have it taken to SE and have it retrained by their top Dominatrix.

I used to have a Prelude and the blue light was very funky.

The Z does have an illumination ring around the lock but you need to switch on your dipped beam first. I'm sure that with some re-wiring, it could come on along with the interior light.

BTW, this is on my 94 UK.

Both.

I recently fitted a new door handle after the vandals tried to nick it and had a look into this.

The door lock barrel holder has a perspex lense around it with a bulb holder but I couldn't see any sign of a bulb or wiring to it in my Z. The ignition surround doesn't light up either.

I've got a '91 Jap TT...

I was talking about the ignition lock lighting up (need to put on dipped beam first though). Never seen or heard of the door lock lighting up. Not much use really since I guess most of us just use our alarms to unlock the doors and never use the key lock.

Andy

The door lock does light up on some models but not sure which.

If you look at the lock closely you can see the clear surround.
