Hi Guys,

Noyt good news. Ifouind that my ZX was leaking oil, only a few drops at a time so I took it to a local garage to get it onto a ramp to have a closer look. At first I thought it my have been something little like the sump seal but to my horror I found the whols of the under side of the car covered in engine oil. All along the exhaust, along the sides....

Has anyone else come across this and does anyone know what the problem may be?

Dont panic - well not yet!

Any oil coming out of anywhere at the front of the underneath of your car is going to be distributed in the way you describe. The gearbox sump seal often leaks, and of course the old favorite - the oil pressure sensor it'self. Get it back on a ramp and spend some time under there to see what's going on. Do you get an oil patch on your drive? That will give you a good idea of the position of the source! Just an idea!

the crank rear oil seal might be leaking, if the oil is coming from the bell housing.

this is a cheap part that is easy to fit, once you have taken the gearbox off.....

The oil might also be old... it has a habit of looking like it just happened recently

also, the oil filter might have come loose.. not be seated properly...

more than a few less scary explanations
