Sounds like play in the transmission.

I take it it's a manual box then.

Could be the prop or the diff. Saying that, it could also be a duff engine mount.

Hi phil, hows it going long time no see, sounds like your tps to me,(throttle position sensor), or you may just need throttle bodies cleaned out, not sure? does it feel like throttle going on and off a bit by itself, i replaced mine and it went away, but i replaced mine due to a big hesitation on pull off, the guys on here will keep you right tho. Where you living now, what you doing etc ???

Yep sounds like a good throttle body clean, new airfilter, adjust tps etc will sort that out. It *could* be a dirty airflow meter but I'd try the others first. Failing that, have you done an ECU diagnostic for the O2 sensors? That is exactly the condition they work under and if they have got 'lazy' this could be pushing the car rich/lean...

....forgot to say - when you clean the throttle bodies etc make sure you disconnect the battery for around 30 mins. This will reset the ECU and allow it to relearn the flow characteristics. One little tip too - some alarms auto arm and lock the car when you replace the battery connection - make sure the keys are outside the car ;)

JUST WANT TO SAY THANX TO A FEW OF THE GUYS WHO REPLIED TO MY LAST MAIL. I CLEANED OUT THE THROTTLE BODIES WITH CARB CLEANER. NO JOY ! I'VE NOW ORDERED A NEW THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. WILL BE FIITING IT ON SATURDAY. FINGERS CROSSED !!!

Exactly the same symptoms as on mine: diagnosed it with my ConZult and I have a knackered right side O2 sensor (reading a constant 2.55 Volt). Disconnected it and all is fine. Have placed an order together with someone else at Courtesy Nissan in the States and hope to receive the goods after the weekend. I've just had an MOT done on the car (this morning actually) and although the right hand exhaust readings were slightly higher than the left side, they were both well under the legal limits.

My suggestion is clean the throttle bodies (always a good idea) but do an ECU diagnostic for the O2 circuits before buying a new TPS. Alternatively, disconnect them one at a time and take the car for a spin. This will tell you if it is the O2 sensors.

Good luck!

Danny
