Hello everyone,

I am new to this site, and just wondered if any one can give me advice please.

I am just about to buy a 300zx non turbo and am seeking advice and comments about this car, just the usual advice like what to look out for, whats it like etc.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Ant.

...do it. The NA is 13 stone lighter than the TT and needs revs to get it going (as opposed to torque) so behaves in a more agile way (my opinion). Apart from the usual things to check - state of exhause, buckled wheels, worn tyres, electrics working etc, look out for front tie rod bushes split (front wheel wobble at speed), sagging gearbox mount (vibrations under your seat at low speed) and that's about it. If it's got juddering brakes then the caliper pistons will need greasing (not replacement disks). If it straight from Japan then you'll need to do the timing belt pretty soon - and an oil change. All in, not a lot to worry about. Like most cars if you keep on top of any minor problem then it should be reliable and good value for money. Oh and you'll need to change the air filters too.

...hope this helps - I've had mine for 3 years - use it every day, over 15k miles per year, 24 to 32 mpg. Great car...

good luck

Jack

I got a NA and it does not do near 30mpg ( i dont think)

Its a great car and fun. i was told to change the cam belt but not got round to it!

Also there is suppose to be something to do with the auto box but forgot (i am also new to the site)

Thanks Jack,

Seems pretty good, I am taking a look at it this week, so your points will help alot.

Is it a quick car - I used to have an FTO - whats it like compared to this, as I have only been in a TT which was v quick.

the one I am looking at is a G reg - been over here for 2 years with one uk owner, its got 17's on it and thats all I know so far oh and has 54000 km he wants 3000 for it what do you reckon?

One more question, can you put an induction kit on this and if so whats the best one to buy?

Thanks

Ant

My mate got a induction cone kit for £90 (evergreen or something like that)

It is a quickish car, o=60 is i think 7.9 and gets to 100 quite quick

that price is goods as mine cost 3500 but on a h

Its a great car. I would say its quick than a rs turbo which is what i used to have!

where did you get this from ?

One thing i MUST say, i now wished i got a TT

Nelson

...I was always on your side re Mass... If you look at - I think it's TT.net, there's a spec that comes from the early sales brochures that details both models - and the NA is about 180lbs lighter than the TT.

cheers

Pretty new here myself, but i `d personally ask some questions regarding the mileage. 54000km doesn`t seem like a lot on a G plate and anything could have been done when, or before it was imported. As I say i`m new here myself and I stand to be corrected. Good luck though.

Mines off the road at the moment waiting for the big service at GPS. (Once Latz recovers enough)

The mileage is low but alot of imports have very few miles. They dont use there cars over there like we do here. Could have been wound back but could quite easily be genuine.

n/a is quicke rthan 7.9, more like six. they dont FEEL as quick as they are, but will surprise you when some one tries to race you, if its a manual 2+0, you will stay with standard auto tts up to about 110 mph. mine was much better than my tt on fuel, and to be honest handled better on standard suspension and wheels than my tt, i think its to do with the hicas on the tt. you wont have that on n/a (4 wheel steer), i thoroughly enjoyed the n/a i had for a year and up to now is my favourite car ever, get it bought if car is ok ?? seems a good price hth

Well i love my NA but its quite slow

the tt is 5.6 0-60 and the NA is 7.9 according to nissian

Mine is a 2+2 and it got beaten by a volvo TS -5 (just)

Burf is it manual??, i know the autos are a lot slower in n/a form but depending which t5 you raced i think you should have won, you have 230 bhp, he has about 200 if i remember rightly, thats an 850 t5 anyways, im surprised he won volvos are noted for their weight

I have a auto 222 bhp and he had 240 bhp!

check for vibrating seat normally between 50-70mph caused by gearbox mount or propshaft mounting i think.

Clutch wear, if you look upwards at pedal in footwell, the adjustment should be somewhere in the middle, if it's near the front of car the clutch is probably knackered.

Car vibrating when braking hard caused by warped brakes
