We live in a democracy. That's better than anarchy and a dictatorship, so accept it and vote against the government if you're not happy.

If protests are the way to go, should we have an unworkable system where we all vote on all issues ?

Also, the influence of protestors is an attempt to bully the authorities, by a minorty creating disproportionately big problems and media attention. The thousands who protest pale into insignificance against the millions who are happy with the status quo.

Also aren't protestors affecting the human rights of those they cause problems to ??

It annoys me that those against make out that the country is not for this war - more are for it in the polls than against.

End of Rant.

I think the MP's are supposed to reflect the opinion of the majority of their constituents.

How often does that happen?!?

Mike

Tim, the reason why 120 odd Labour muppet cabinet ministers voted against war is that although Labour tricked their way into power was by declaring that they were now New Labour.

People like Robin Cook and the others are more likely still very much old Labour. Old Labour who back in the 70's/80's when Kinnock was around were very much for getting rid of our armed forces completely and were all for CND and fluffy clouds! Which is what kept them from getting into power. ;)

FFS last night consisted of THE WAR, WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN AFTER THE WAR, WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN AFTER THE NEXT WAR oh and a classic, another chance to see the story of the last Gulf War, and a luvly romantic doc on Mrs T and the Falklands!

I find Trevor Mc Donuts delivery comical but a little worrying, as he delivers serious news like it's great entertainment.

OH! What a lovely war !

Not quite right - they respresent us, but are supposed to make informed decision which are in our best interests. For eg. most people would say abolish road tax, but if done, who would pay for road repairs etc??

The complexity of running a country requires a lot of consideration and balancing of many factors - not a single issue at a time and a gut reaction to things, as is the public's general way. So we elect people to do all this for us.

B-52's will be there in about an hour, wonder if they'll do Rock Lobster??? :D

Yep, in basic terms I guess you might have a point.

I'm sorry but I'm anti war on fiscal ground and nothing more. Sadam is a barbarian and should be 'disposed of' for the atrocities that he has perpetrated.

I just feel that the UK is such a stinking cess-pit at the moment that the funding could be better used trying to improve 'our' country rather than President Blair trying to prove a point with Bush.

Looking at your poll I know I'm in the minority but that's just my opinion.

Tim

That's OK mate, I agree with you 100 percent about the state of the UK.

ROFLMAO - Do you genuinely believe that your Road Fund is used to keep the roads? You are more naive that I thought. Who's paying for this war? How's you pension fund? What about your NI contributions? Penny on fuel anyone?

Stealth Tax - never!

Thanks, you've cheered me up now :D

Remember the UK probably stands to gain more from keeping in with USA than going it alone, even in purely fiscal terms. Many US troops are based in UK in peace time.

There was a programme on Sky the other week, they were restoring a classic railway carrage, I called Ali in to see it...

'Look Al, they're restoring a slam-door carrage, just like the one you travel to London on every day, and pay £3200 pa for the privalege'

UNBELIEVEABLE!

LOL, that's a new one, Road Tax going on the roads!!!! (Sorry, bad example)

Personally, anybody who WANTS to be a politician has already disqualified themselves in my book, it should be about public service and not a career. There are far to many personal agenda's going around.

I think the main problem with this country is apathy, what was the saying? 'The only thing Evil needs to survive is for good men to do nothing'

And what exactly do you think the hunters do to the dogs (and horses) once they are too old to take part in the """"sport"""".

Yeah, take a hint Warren :D:D

If your children were killed by a stray Allied bomb, would you still be pro war?

If you had seen your entire family wiped out by some mad dictator and you ended up in some crapped out bedsit in Tower

Hamlets as a refugee would you hate all refugees?

If your childrens pets had been eaten by a mangy fox would you be anti-hunt?

Its ok to say, f*** them, I dont care, it dont affect me, as you acquit yourself by your own shallowness. But I would really prefer to think that some of the vile far right rhetoric being expressed here is done in jest :(

As opposed to the countries own self appointed leader?

lol i guess people have to weigh up the otpions, freedom from opression or opression.

if my pet was eaten by a fox? lol obviously it would be the owners fault for letting the animal out of his sight or not have looked after it? FFKS have you ever seen a fox? they are harmless lol, Pro fox hunting people should have there heads blown clean of period.

it effects everyone - thats why they are doing it, to secure your future, (nice to see how supportive you are  )

Warren. You know nothing about foxes if you think they are harmless mate !

Why the hell are we discussing foxes :)??

As for Allied forces securing mine and yours future, wake up mate, you really think that the Republican Animal is there for the general good of humanity?

I suppose you'd shoot Mandela too huh?

You are so full of Self Rigtious shite its unbelieveable.

Are you the second coming?

Are you so ****in out of touch? I hate refugees with a passion, they have turned areas of Kent into Ghettos, these are not asylum seakers they are parasites!

People coming into the UK because the rest of Europe funnels them through and we are just a soft-touch, a nice cosy NHS and handouts. Did you know they were given Tescos vouchers, but the do-gooding wan*ers decided that this was degrading so they now get cash. The council decided that it was costing them too much in taxi fares so they gave them money for new cars. Don't preach to me unless you have something to back it up!!!!!!

Oh, and who's going to pay for this? Me and every other resident with a 20% hike in Council Tax!
