Jap/Uk ecu

Can anyone confirm if a jap ecu will work in a UK car. The car is an auto if that makes a difference and the ecu's would both be from autos.

    vijay unfortunately although the engine will start and run , the jap ecu however is not compatable with the UK spec gearbox ecu and jerky low range gear changes will occur and no changes from 3rd gear on.

     

    Know this because have tried it.

    cheers Jeff. Got a problem with Jaz's car where the conzult is not reading any coolant or fuel temp. Eric thinks it might be a problem with the ecu:( :( So I might still be able to plug a Jap one in and see if it reads anything, shouldn't do any damage should it??
