hey guys whats the best way to record fuel usage fill her first and record, empty her first?

remember here in old NZ we work in Kms and litres, also whats the best octane fuel to use?

Currently getting 300ks approx 186miles from a tank I take it this is bad huh?

On a £45 tank which is roughly ten gallons, i'll get on average 220miles. Thats mainly city driving. Last time i drove on the motorway, i got 280 miles and the light hadn't even come on for petrol. Sounds like you've got a bit of a heavy right foot. Nice!!! Dont get caught!!!

take care

Best way is to fill up first, then when you next visit the station fill it right up again and record how many litres you put in, how many KM's you have done and the cost per litre of the fuel. Then you can work out the fuel consumption.

BTW I get 500 kms out of a tank driving to and from work everyday.

Fill the tank UP....all the way until you actually SEE the fuel.

Note the mileage

Drive

When you have to.....

RE-Fill the tank UP....all the way until you actually SEE the fuel.

Note Mileage, and amount of fuel used.

divide liters by kilometers, multiply by 100, you got your consumption per hundred of KM.

If you want to do MPG, convert to miles, and inverse the division...

You're all set.

And...it's the ONLY way to know your fuel consumption....anything else is just guessing.

and, BTW, use 98 octane

Zee you

For anyone who wants to know MPG. Do as henri says with the fuel. Once you know how many litres you've used to go so many miles:-

1)divide the number of litres by 5 and then multiply by 1.1. This gives you the number of gallons....

2)divide the number of miles by the number of gallons. This is your MPG...

Your formula is interesting Andy,

To get the gallons used, I have always, multiplied the litres by 0.22 to give gallons.

Am I doing something wrong or is that just another way to get the same result?

Now I would have divided by 4.54 .....

Back to skool for us all ?

I've been using 91 octane is this bad? 98 is REALLY expensive and hard to find over here, we have 91, 96 and 98
