Anyone either run one themselves or know anyone that has ?

Cheers !

We used to have em as hire cars for works business. Apart from being plastic fantastic they werent exactly known for their turn of speed!!

Oh and dont argue with a truck in one, cos the door skins peel off veeeerrrrrry easily!!!!!

Ouch !

Figure I've got my Z for when I do fancy a turn of speed - that's fairly nippy ;)

Cheers for that mate ! :)

I've owned two Alfas and my sister had a Cinquecento and her housemate had a Panda. Based on our collective experiences, I would never buy an Italian car.

Oh, and a mate had a Lancia Delta which was fun but cr@p.

None of these were as modern as the Brava though and things could have improved.

But you asked for thoughts !

Dave

I hope they don't rust as fast as Alfa's - you can actually see them disappearing in front of your eyes ! LOL

I've had Italian bikes and to honest I wouldn't trust an Italian company to wire a toaster, let alone a vehicle which might get damp occasionally !!!

:D

According to the book they're galvanised, and I'm looking at about R or S reg so I'm hoping there'll be some metalwork left ;)

I owned a Lancia Delta for a few years before the Z so I guessed the electrics might be a little 'fragile'.

Parkers online give it 4 stars out of 5 still though, and What Car give it 3. Seems to be quite a bit of car for the money.

I like the rear light clusters on the bravo, but not the Brava!:D

My son had a 1.8 HLX on an R-plate, manual, for 12 months until he needed an auto at the end of last year (girlfriend's licence).

I was very impressed, it was a beaut: nice size, good finish, nippy, great styling, and dark metalic blue.

Like others I have had Italian cars before and had problems (e.g. Alfa - blown engine, ... after a string of other problems, etc..) and tried to stop him buying the Bravo (a mistake obviously).

It was a great rust free car, and I would not be put off by the stories/experiences with other Italian cars. The one thing I would say is that you will find the parts/servicing expensive (compared to other 'family sized' cars).

If you want to talk to somebody about the car, I can put you in touch - just let me know.

Oh and just to re-enforce the point, I deal with Italians each and every day and they are so slow at making decisions that its a wonder there are any italian cars out there!!!

We've been waiting over 18 months for the go ahead on one job already!!!

My better half owned a Bravo, she upgraded from a Punto!! :D

Anyway........it was dull, slow, lack of pick up, electrical problems (same with Punto) but would always start and never let her down.

She now drive an MGF............which is good fun, nippy and real wheel drive.

For a daily driver I would have something else, maybe a Rover Coupe. You can pic those up on the cheap. Funny that is, I have one for sale!! ;) (now posted in For Sale section!)

Matty.

I had a 3 door one.(never could remember which is which) 100 bhp turbo diesel,R reg, good car got about 50 mpg, and i always caned it:D
