My 300ZX has been off the road for 2 years (I've only owned it for 6 months though). I've changed the engine and petrol tank.

I MOT'd it for the first time today expecting it to fail on a multitude of things. Low and behold it only failed on a couple of lights and one tyre.

So don't let anyone tell you they're not good cars :) :) :)

Just one thing though. The lights they said arn't working are the front and back sidelights. Does anyone know if it likely to be a fuse or bad earth somewhere ?? Oh, and the backlights for the instrument panel (speedo etc) arn't working either. Does this give anyone a clue ?????????

Thanks

Unfortunatly there are a few where people have just been so unlucky with thier car, thinking I have been one of the luckist.

Dispite what people say these are great cars, which have lasted over 10 years and will need lots of TLC to make the next 10 years, but they will make it and make it well.

Thats what I like...positive thinking!!:D :D

Your glass is never half empty..it's always half full!!;)

Cheers,

F.T.

My car has been off road since 1998, but like Andy I have owned it for 6 months.

I am putting the engine together and hopefuly it will be ready for MOT in 2-3 weeks.

I was worried before about the car beeing off road for so long but not any more:D thx.

Viper - I hope youv'e got it garaged in cold iceland!!!

Yeh there well built cars!!!!

After all it's a Nissan.

I also run a Nissan D21 pickup for work - I had it since new - nearly 6 years and touch wood - no problems.

When I think my ZX is 12 years old - it's amazing.

Geoff.

No garage so it has been outside for a while.

It is not that cold here it has bearly snowed all winter, I think its been colder in UK:cool:

Thanks for the advice regarding fuses etc. I'll look tomorrow.

Viper, I hope you're as lucky as me, if it was luck of course. Have a look at the tension rods (they often leak oil), steering rack gators (sometimes tear) and track rod ends (rubber bit cracks). They seem to be the most common things to fail an MOT.

Cheers

Andy

Another amazing thing about our cars is that they might be 10-13 years old now but isnt great how they still look like a car thats been built and styled on something that was made last week god we are lucky cheers

Marc:) :)
