Hi, All

Just need some advise on buying parts from Courtesy Nissan, Is there any hidden charges i.e. Import tax etc. I need to know as they beat my local nissan dealers prices. and realy don't want to pay over £200 for a con-rod when Courtesy Nissan can do one for $132.53 (about £82.5090) (25% discount for TwinTurbo.Net Members) and I also need some other parts like a piston, ring set, main shells and big end shells as well as a engine rebuild gasket set.

Thanks people

Mathew

P.S. If anyone has a second hand piston/con-rod for sale please, please drop me a line.

Yes you will get charged import tax when your parcell comes but it still works out way cheaper than buying over here. Its best if you can get a few people to order some bits and bobs as well then you can split the shipping charge.

Contact Latz at grasshopper pro sport, he may be able to sort you out with second hand parts.

thanks mate, I've sent him an email. just waiting for a reply.

If anyone else has experience ordering from Courtesy Nissan let me know.

I ordered a PTU on Sunday 9th and it arrived yesterday :D

Even adding Mr Browns cut it was still atleast 50% less than good ole Nissan GB. I was amazed really that it travelled so far so fast, doubt it would be the same story over here :( Beggars the question though why are Nissan GB so expensive as the parts all come from Japan. I for one will order again but hopefully not too soon.

You might get a quicker reply if you try talking to Mitch at Courtesy direct (mitch@ courtesyparts.com)..

Mitch Mitch the Parts B*tch..

Well, that's what they call him on TTnet anyway.. :D:D

Or, try Coz at ConceptZ (http://www.conceptzperformance.com) - friendly bloke, also offers discounted standard Nissan parts (as well as performance parts).

Either way you are almost certainly going to get stung for duty, as the courier will do all of the clearing for you, unless you use USPS (US Postal Service) - which means it'll take forever to arrive..

As Paul says, even with the 21% or so of import duty & tax, it's still cheaper than ordering over here..

FWIW, I've ordered around $3000 worth of parts from Courtesy split over many orders, and they only ever missed one part out of the whole lot! (Hundreds of parts in total)...

With Courtesy don't forget to add shipping costs aswell......and better to ring than order on-line I think. That way they tell you there and then whether what you're ordering is in stock or not.

I have ordered from them half a dozen times and each time have got the stuff (and exactly what I ordered) in a few days.

The tax is a wind-up though!

does anyone know how much the tax is? just so I know howmuch it'll cost me as I realy don't want to go over my cards limit.

Mathew

Recently got some bits from Courtesy ~ $420 worth. Parts were $358 & shipping $60.

Delivered by UPS - warning this is a Cash On Delivery item - you pay the duty on delivery. My duty bill was around £60 - about 23% - comprising import duty (about 3%, VAT 17.5% and some other duty levied on top of that - the tax bill is cumulative, and you pay on the delivery also! - go figure?).

Still worked out about £100 cheaper, and bits arrived in 4 days!

You need to order a reasonable amount to get over the shipping charge - I've few more bits from MJP to get, as US cost is low but shipping makes it about the same overall!

Apparently you can try to "delay" paying the tax by using USPS, but Courtesy don't recommend it cos it delays delivery, is not trackable, and ultimately is not much less in cost (UPS about $10 more).

The kicker with UPS is the $50 minimum rate. USPS charges relate to size/weight like any sensible system.

With UPS you will always pay the import tax, they have a department that does that and that alone.

With USPS you often get away with it, partly because the shipping costs are lower (thus decreasing the overall value of tax collected) and partly because our inefficient postal system doesn't always get around to it.
