So this is not a carefully hidden advert, but a genuine attempt to start some dialogue on this subject. I'm sure that Craig is already itching to delete this thread so just to ensure that he doesn't: If I was selling my car (and I'm not) it is rotten as a pear, made up from 17 cars cut and shut together, doesn't run, smells of fish, and I'd want £273grand for it (comes with a free punch in the mouth, and is a mini metro too...)
But more seriously. As a result of a 'me or the money pit' ultimatum last year I did try to sell it (still got the car and single now - good decision / what decision?). I put together an honest an objective advert, for what I objectively consider to be a very nice example of a standard looking 92UK car spent about a hundred quid on adverts, and got one call (which I strongly suspect was from one of the publications that I advertised it in).
So what's going on? Everybody I talk to that like their fast cars loves Nissan 300 - almost without exception right? Even those that claim not too always whinge on about cost of ownership, fuel consumption, reliability - never a qualm about looks or performance, yet I scan through the papers and there's plenty for sale at not high rices (though usually complete Irvine Welsh (drug induced fantasy for those not literary minded) mileage claims).
So opinons sought:
1. We all sell from time to time - Is mine the totally undesirable one in the range ( I don't think so - I like it)? Or did I advertise in the wrong places? Anybody had any success selling one of these in recent months? How? Where? (and of course why? :-) )
2. Has the average UK resident become so appethetic to the joy of hooning with the wind in the hair that these really are dinosaurs of a previous era? God I hope not. Can you imagine a life where your choices of fun car would be a Focus RS (plenty of power / no traction built for the minimum cost, with resultant minimum quality / performance) or Streetka (that just f**in laughable - they forgot to put an engine in it - It runs on the starter motor!!)
Again seriously though - Am I stuck with this car forever cos it's unsellable? If so I have the feeling it's gonna get a lot faster in the near future.....
