I'm getting a new engine and manual box put in my Z and want to get some serious power at the same time.

What level of boost will I be running to get 500bhp?

How high can you go on stock internals? 550 ish I've heard?

Which turbos? Like the look of GT25's or PE1420's?

Nismo 555's?

Dual intake with single MAF and modded chip?

Which chip?

Which plugs? Had some HKS ones in but suspect they will be in a bad way if it's been detting a lot?

I presume I'll need dump valves and metal hard pipes.

What else will I be needing?

I've got big intercoolers, single Blitz SUS intake, full stainless decat zorst, Blitz boost controller.

As I'll be needing a gasket set anyway is it cheaper to buy forged pistons and rods and rebuild my old engine instead of spending cash on a new one?

My current engine has probable head gasket failure, rear oil leak and sounds like a con-rod broke.

Sorry - I'll stop winding him up - I'm sure he just doesn't want to see you go down the same route he did (i.e. several engine rebuilds.. coz that gets expensive, even to a rich South African ;) )

Lol correct on all accounts lmao.

ive been down this route so many times bwhahahaha im now Broke-goodlooking-and still broke :D:D

Just be carefull what tuning shops tell you and dont take it as the "said word"

This time im more prepared lmao i have a spare block :D

Now it could be that they are actually going to, for example, fit the 720cc injectors and a unichip, or some other fuelling dongle to alter the injector pulsewidth so that the stock ECU can manage the injectors - a Greddy emanage & e-01 setup could do that, FWIW.

Greddy emanage cannot handle 720's as it can only compensate for injectors at 150% of the originals - Max you can go to is 555s on an emanage IRRC

It's an adjustable fuel pressure reg, Hairsy..

Rather a max-power term (they get sold in there a lot!), but, that's what it does..

Basically, you can compensate a little for having smaller injectors with one, by upping the fuel pressure (within limits - too high and you'll pop injector seals etc.. I've run 75psi with no bad effects, except for blowing the standard FPR diaphragm out!)..

The standard injectors are rated at (from memory) 370cc @ 44psi - there's a calculation somewhere on the RC injectors site that lets you work out what an injector will flow at any given pressure, given it's rated flow, but I can't remember it off the top of my head..

You get the idea, though - up the pressure, and the rated flow gets higher.. To a point, of course.

The downside is, you are also upping the flow at idle and off boost - the ECU has a hard time coping with that, as it's only in closed-loop mode under cruising conditions (and NOT at idle), so you'll tend to run rich in other areas of the fuel map, but be ok under boost (which is what the fuel pressure will be tuned to).

Much better to run bigger injectors and a proper fuel map, IMHO, however it can let you extend the tolerances of a borderline injector setup - so it has it's uses.

Indeed, Nismo sell an adjustable three port FPR (i.e. it varies by boost/vacuum like the standard one).
