Help needed

Hi everyone, i am a newbie and i am currently looking for a 300ZX in the Japanese Market. I have found some examples with low mileage(not suspiciously low), and they have some codes next to the details, the first code is 'E-GZ 32' and the other is 'GZ 32'. Can someone tell me what's the difference, and which one should i go for???

Thanks in advance, Makis

Thanks for the prompt reply! I've noticed on your list, that the certain model was produced from 1993, and the one i found is 1989:confused:

The engine code is VG30(DE) and its an automatic. I was also wondering if there some known faults with these cars generally, because i don't know what to expect from the ownership of such a car. The only thing i have ever read about these cars was that the automatics have a design flaw. Is that true?

That list (which isnt mine!!) has various models, I admit at first glance you cant make head nor tail of it.

Z32 relates to the shape, generally all 300zx's from 89 to 98 are all refered to as Z32's

So the one yor going for is it a two seater or a 2+2, convertible, t-bar or very unlikely slick top (solid roof), ? Is it a TT (twin turbo) or N/A (normally aspirated)

Most Jap spec 300's are either 2+2's or 2 seaters first made 1989, though the odd 1988 isnt unheard of. The convertible was released in 1993.

Andy P is a bit clever with chasis numbers, maybe he'll take a look for you.

that's exactly the car i found.

Which one, what model?

it goes for 150k yen, but i have my doubts about the guys in this company. They replied to my enquiry in a language of a 5 year old. I have been in England for 2 years(student here) and my english are much better. Not that i have something against them, but as the moto says: what we have here is failure to communicate....

Thats a 2+2 and its in the best colour!!

Normally id say to walk away from buying if youre not sure about the seller, but as you say they do have a big language barrier to overcome so they could well be on the level.

Have you not thought of buying one thats already been imported, that way you do get to inspect the goods.

Im sure some of the other forum members will give you some good advice on importing one yourself as quite a few people have done this, mine was imported years before i bought it so i cant help on that, so give it till tommorrow night and see what replies youve got (most of the lucky buggers on here just sit at work and post on the forum in the daytime!!!)

Good luck

Good question!,not having turbos N/As have two less items to worry about, plus they will not get so hot under bonnet as a TT, TTs require(seems common rule)very regular oil changes, around 3000miles,both extremely well made and over enginerred, capable of heavy mods;)

Thanks for the info! The reason i want to import one is cause it will cost me cheaper. With the same amount of money, the only Japanese coupe i can buy is a MK3 Supra, which is an 80s coupe and most of them have been heavily abused. The 300ZX in my opinion is more than a step up. And it will cost me cheap cause i can easily do the conversions for the SVA test myself(experience in a tuning company and two garages).

I have emailed some other companies, and asked them if they can source one for the same money, and if they can.....:D :D :D :D :D :D

Can't wait to become a member of the Fairlady family guys.

Thanks for your help!

remember insurance costs a bit more than on a UK model, you do have more of a choice when you import though and get a lower milage car,

id do it but the insurance is to high for me

It's a compromise, isn't it?

You either have enough amount of money and get a UK one, or you opt for the import and get higher insurance. I prefer paying more for insurance(3 years no-claims), cause its easier for me to pay by installments, while with the car, there's no such option.

just saying :)

sure its a compromise, personally not worth it for me

insurance is around 1800 on a UK manual for me @20 TPF&F

on an import it was about £4000

:)

but if your older it will cost less generally.

Do you have any clues about the insurance on a non-turbo? I have 3 years no-claims, but i'm under 25 years old.

Insurance will probably be about the same on a non-turbo as a turbo!

It costs more because they were never sold here - only turbos were sold in the UK.

I'd get prices for both if I were you.

if you send me all the info about the shop ad the cars that you are interested in I will personly call the and send the info to you
