Anyone bypassed the coolant lines to their Throttle Bodies?

Featured Replies

Having done it;

Pro's - much easier to remove & refit the upper intake, as you're no longer adding about 10-12 coolant lines that all require clips etc.

Plus if your car is like mine, you'll find that 90% of those little water galleries are completely clogged with crud, and no longer flow any water anyway.

Con's - if you're gonna do it properly, you lose two vacuum galleries, so you have to reroute them with hosing. Piece of p*ss though, and less hose joins in the long run, so less chances of vac leaks.

Other than that, I've had no running problems (that can be attributed to the lack of coolant flow to the TB's).

Cheers Mate,

You have found no problems with running it in the winter like that?

Is there a link somewhere detailing how to do it?

Mark

I agree with Aaron here - I've done the same and had no prlbs - upper plenum stays cooler and must keep a cooler incoming air temperature?

No Mark - no probs in the winter, no icing etc..

The injector replacement tech describes a little of it here; http://www.ttaz.org/tech/injectors/ - But to be honest, I made it up as I went along - it was much easier to work out where all the pipes were meant to be going when I was looking at the engine, than from looking at those pics.

If you need any help when you're staring at the pipework, just give us a bell (oh, new number though, I'll PM you it)
