Hi all manual tt owners.. can anyone tell me in what situation would you press on the REC button beside the ECON button.. I notice the revs do change slightly..

It's for the Black Box Flight Recorder which is fitted underneath the spare wheel.

I believe it's for Reciculating the air inside your car, rather than drawing the air from outside.;)

'Air recirculate switch

 

Push the REC switch to recirculate interior air inside the vehicle. The indicator light will come on.

 

Push it again to draw outside air into the passenger compartment. the indicator will go out.

 

* The air circulate switch will activate only when the AUTO switch and air conditioner compressor are on.'

If you dropped one and want to savour the aroma a little longer then rec will recycle it for you. At the same time it will restart your compressor to chill and dehumidify it as well if the AC was set at Econ beforehand! Hence the change in revs.
