for anyone who may have attempted this..

Are they a straight swap? ot are there a few wires to change around. And if anyone knows which wire is for the fog-light warning that would be great.

Passed the MOT today, so hope to get round to doing this in the next few days.

Cheers,

James

PS talking about MOT's, had to go to three stations before I found a ramp I could get on! and even they had problems :(

Seen it, done it - easy job. However, in my case it wasn't a direct swap, may have been a SeriesI/II thing, so what I had to do was remove the instruments from the case and swap them over. Aside from that no probs.

Also to my knowledge there is no fog warning light because Jap cars have no fog lights. I presume that on a UK car the fog light switch is where the driving light switch is on a J-spec and that the switch lights up in the same way.

I dont know if a Jap one will fit straight into a UK car, but I am sure you can open up the clusters and change over the dials and they work fine.

Not had any problems with any ramps round my way. Every place I have been have the car lifters which are the same height as the ground.

I'll give it a go and see then...

only asking about the light since it'll be nice to wire up the warning light from the UK cluster to the switch for the 'new' rear foglights ( i think there's a fog-light warning anyway, I'll have to go have a look)

yeah you can swap right over, but iirc doind this will leave the 112mph limiter in place, and you will need either a derestrictor that fits the ECU or an aftermarket ECU

arse, i thought the uk cluster would reset the limiter to 155 like the uk one...

Nope, that restriction is in the ECU, so you either frig the signal that goes into the Jap spec clocks and then onto the ECU, or you fit UK spec clocks and then change the ECU.

never mind, I'll just live with the limiter until I upgrade the ECU..

I take it the JWT ECU's and the like are delimited :D :D

Just did this to mine, and yes it's a straight swap as long as both are series I or series II.

As for the fog light indicator, never thought to check it, but with the pod out, it should be easy to trace the track on the circuit from the bulb to the connector.

Yup..

Though I have it on good authority that the highest speed limit that can be programmed into the Nissan ECU is 320mph..

Sucks to be us hey...

did the swap today, and as everybody said, it was dead easy, but a little time consuming.

Everything works nicely but I now have a litlle bell that rings every time I come to a stop (like when you have the lights on and door open). Any ideas?

Thanks,

James

PS I'm ordering my user manual this weekend :D

I got exactly the same when I did mine. It drove me up the f*cking wall!

The fix is the same as removing the speed chime - http://www.aus300zxclub.com/tech/Alarm.htm

ohh thank you!!! I'm assuming it's just the speed alert getting confused and doesn't actually mean anything then..

thanks again

James
