...Is there a product to keep the leather interior silky fresh and supple? Kind of like an automotive Oil of O/Ulay.

Cos I've notice the odd dry patch.

And while I'm talking moisturisers - why do car dealers put that cacky waxy stuff all over the dash?! Had it on my old Astra and it just attracted cat hairs and made your fingers feel greasy. DON'T DO IT!!

Cheers

Pete

Neat's Foot Oil. Can get it from saddlery shops as it keeps the horse leather supple.

I also have some dry spots on my leather and also would be interested in this product :)

hi Pete,

I use Autoglym on my leather interior - works well.

Geoff.

What I do for my seats is to use leather cleaner initially, wipe clean, neat's foot oil them, rub in and then buff off and wipe over any small scuffs, such as on the side, with shoe buffer.

Keeps them soft, supple and tangle fr...uh...scuff free. :)

Can get a huge tub of neat's foot for about £6. Mine has so far lasted 3 years with regular cleaning - at least once every 2 weeks.

Go in wearing some jodhpurs and that wont ask questions. BUT WE MIGHT :D

Promise you it's not a wind up. I'd take a photo of my tub of NFO, but it's in the boot of my Zed about 80 miles away.... :)

You can also use Connolly Hide Food - available from all sorts of boot & leather shops etc.

I bought a leather renovation kit last year and it is really, really good. It cleans, re-blacks and seals it all in, you even get that lovely "new" smell. It is 4 different applications. But it is at work and I can't remember the company I got it from but will check and post tomorrow.

Hmmm, don't think so. I remember it is some right old school company that has been around for a billion years. Some classic car nut at my work recommended it, I remember it being "the one" to use for renovating your leather!

Not sure we want to see that Ajay :d ;)

I 'consulted' Creech Coachtrimmers in Crystal Palace soon after getting my car. They have undertaken a number of first class vintage and classic car restorations (been going years), saving where possible the original leather. My leather on the driver's seat had started to crack and starting to look tiried compared to the passenger seat.

They were not impressed with the quality of leather used by Nissan, and said I had to do some "intensive nourishment" if I was to save the leather. Highly recommended was Gliptone Liquid Leather (mentioned also by Vijay, with a link), and it was REALLY IMPORTANT that it was 'pH FREE' (not many products are). Also you should choose a warm day, and best to work in with the finger tips, if you don't mind doing this. (I was shown the technique!). I had to do this fortnightly for two months, and then return for it to be checked to see if I should continue....

Doing something is better than nothing, but thought you might like to hear what the experts said. It worked (and no, I don't do massages!!).

Geoff ;)

Ok, at work now, the company I got my kit from is called "WOOLIES" tel 01778 347347

http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/Lkit.html

The kit you would need for a Z is kit no.1 £33.00, for that you get leather cleaner, colour renovator and sealing paste. It really is excellent stuff and you won't be disappointed with the results........trust me! You can't do it in 5 minutes but it is well worth the time and effort it does take.

HTH.

The liquid leather stuffs sounds good from the web pages. Where can I get the Nissan colour description for the blackish leather seats in my 1990 UK TT?

You just don't know *what* you're missing... ;) ;) ;)

I bought a kit from Gliptone that has dye so that you can touch in or colourwash ant scuffed areas and has the cleanser and finisher. It works really well.
