Have just bought a 2+2 TT Auto, 88000kms. When braking at medium to low speeds there is sometimes an unusual feeling coming through the brake pedal, along with a noise from the front of the car. The brake pedal (under pressure) seems to lift slightly and then vibrate before going back to normal operation. This doesn't seem to effect the stopping distance. It sounds like it might be a fault with the ABS system, any thoughts would be much appreciated.

If there is a something wrong with the ABS the light would come one, but the light could have been disconnected to pass an MOT or to sell it. Does the light come on when you turn on the ignition? I think it should.

Other possibilities are

Bad tracking,

Bad balancing,

Worn track rods,

The 3 above any good tyre place can check for these and usually check it for free and charge for any word needed.

Torsion bushes need replacing

Discs warped

Pads need changing

Any of this any help to you?

Stuart

I will check if the light works or not. It feels like an electrical fault rather than discs or pads to me. I will get the brakes checked all the same.:(
